 matter of perspective - I liked the characterization - a 40 year old with an identity crisis panicking life is passing him by - thought SRK was pretty true to the character - did not feel he was trying to look or act like a teen - actually thought he did a great job of avoiding the teenage mushiness of romance and brought the tongue in cheek skepticism that comes with age , to the fore ..that is what I enjoyed most in the movie disclaimer : I have been an SRK fan since his Circus days , especially in his pre Romance king image movies and love his comic timing so this movie worked for me - could not stand JTHJThe foolish man seeks happiness in the distance; the wise grows it under his feet : James Oppenheim | ||

Oh, acknowledging age is fine. But still trying to present oneself as a teen/20something with actions, clothes, and acting is what bugs. Declaration of age still doesn't make it more comfortable for the viewer. At least, personally speaking. The director could have chosen a younger fellow who could have brought a bit more innocence to the theme. | ||

Hmm..I disagree. I have never seen even one movie with Deepika. Contrary to the usual mood in our DB, I do not watch movies based on the HERO in that movie. If I do not like the heroine in the movie, I will try my best to avoid that movie. To support that belief, I haven't watched a single movie that Deepika acted in a starring role. Looks very old in the movie. Felt like Deepika carried the film through. Routine affair for South Indians. SRK behaved a bit lunatic in the film. His acting was louder than any 80's heroes/heroines garish costumes! Rohit Shetty apparently never watched hit South Indian films of Mohanlal, Kamal, Chiranjeevi from the 80's and 90's. Still, Shahrukh's age and lack of grace(due to age) kind of spoiled the film. It would have been different with a younger hero who can show some innocence. |
