Undavalli roar in Parliament impresses Sonia Gandhi Yesterday during the parliament session Chidambaram was in a sulky mood as he had to face the comments made by his own party leader Digvijay Singh on the Maoists issue. In an article published in one of the dailies,Digvijay disagreed with Chidambaram's approach of treating the Naxalite issue as a law and order problem. Digvijay said that Mr Chidambaram is a very nice and honest person but with his intellectual arrogance he becomes rigid in his decisions and fails to change. While the session opened for the talk on Maoist menace Undavalli was given a chance to speak in the parliament session.He said that the Congress under the leadership of Sonia and the late YSR were are able to root out the Maoist/Naxalite menace in Andhra Pradesh by initiating various developmental programmes and also by firmly countering the naxalite attacks. With the developmental schemes being implemented in our state people people are averse to join the Maoist cadre.Undavalli narrated an incident during the Rajiv Gandhi's rule when there was a kidnap of an IAS officer in his native district of East Godavari. Naxalites threatened to kill the IAS officer if their fellow members are not released from police custody.Rajivji does not want to release the naxalites who are in custody but the state government has taken a decision overnight and released them from the jail, undavalli revealed. He said the incidents like these goes on to prove the inefficiency and soft approach towards naxalite menace. Undavalli said we need to take stringent actions and rules to eradicate the naxals.Every police right from constable to the IPS should be made to work for atleast two years in the Naxal infested areas compulsorily. In the end Vundavalli said that only developement followed by police action against the Maoists/Naxalites can stop the mence. The opposition members became impatient with Undavalli's non-stop speech. Some even raised voice and asked him to sit down.Undavalli countered them by saying that they need to have guts and stamina(dammu)to listen to other persons advise. One person who couldn't help but laugh is Sonia Gandhi at the opposition and she personally appreciated Vundavalli! |
