Sympathize with these students but ideally to maintain legal status, they should have gone for a good Univ to do double MS or PhD rather than a fake university. That’s what a lot of us did when we came during dot com bust and could not find any jobs So let’s be happy they are not incarcerated and allowed to go to India and retry again. 1. Not all students are from India. 2. From what information we have so far, most of these guys didn't get H1 approvals and hence either out of status or almost out of status. 3. To continue their stay legally, they found a fake university. Knowingly. 4. CPT is issued by the university. This is simply an amendment to I20, which is issued by the university. Not a Visa. 5. Your contention is with F1 visa issued based on this university's I20. Visa is approved by USCIS. Sting is likely set up by DHS. no need to worry...there are universities around world which dont require your presence for a masters degree...i know an university ...which is one of top universities of world...provides 95% of courses onlines... only requirement is you be present in the country and take the exams in the university....physical classes are becoming thing of the past... this novel concept aside... your argument is lopsided...whats US government, education department, visa consolate all are doing ?? first its the US departments to blae...then comes the students ...if really case is taken to courts...its US government to loose face... This makes sense but I bet all these kids know that its a made up school and work is their goal. Even as a Bitthiri Sathhi, I will be worried if There is no class when my dady asked me to go to that school every day for my 1st std. Cant a US visited kid question where are the classes? It is known hundreds of Telugu students were caught in the fake university sting operation in US which triggered widespread concerns here in twin Telugu states. In a big relief to parents, about 30 students have reached Hyderabad airport on Monday morning. Their relatives and friends waited for long hours and received them. Their safe arrival renewed hopes among parents of those students who were still under arrest and those who were being tracked closely in the US. The leaders of American Telugu associations like TANA have assured parents here of their full support to bring the remaining students back to India safely in the next few weeks. Already, the necessary legal help and financial support is being extended to the Telugu students there. It is found that over 200 Telugu students are currently under custody of US officials. A very strict surveillance is placed on their movements as the officials have tied the trackers at their heels. The Indian Foreign Affairs Ministry has also initiated steps to extend support to Telugu students. Almost all the Indian students trapped by the US officials belong to the twin Telugu States.
