i am of the opinion, both are different generation players - so should not be compared.. there is a gud chance Kohli breaks Sachins records.. but still, for me Sachin + the Fab 4 .. i enjoy this generation of cricket much more than the current lot - where we seem to be easily dominating the oppositions.. Tell me one other consistent batsmen alongside Kohli across formats? He only has some inconsistent performers in Tests. Rahaney was good for a while, now Pujara. In ODIs, Dhoni a while back and Rohit now. Sachin was alone for a period between 92 to 96. Later he had Dravid, Ganguly, Sehwag and Laxman playing across formats. And after that he had Dhoni and Yuvraj too in ODIs. But Sachin is special because he was a child prodigy who had a long career and generations of Indians travelled with him. And for a brief time, he was the lone batting star. But we should also be willing to accept there could be other Indians coming who shall be as special or even better than Sachin at a few things or formats. | ||

Virat Kohli is the Greatest ODI batsmen already. And he still has 5 yrs left. This isn't just my opinion but many legends are already confirming it. Enough said. His run appetite, stats, chasing records and his attitude, temperament make him unique than everyone else. In Tests however, he still hasn't overtaken Tendulkar. But I am confident he shall be spoken alongside Sachin soon given his phenomenal Overseas record in SENA countries which is a real benchmark for Test batting. And please, don't even compare Kohli to someone like Amla who is a Choker. He got his runs mostly in Bilateral series and crumbled when under pressure. Even Saffas mock him. When Sachin was playing, he had to face monster bowlers like Wasim, Waqar, Ambrose, Walsh, Donald, Pollock, McGrath, Gillespie, Lee, Akhtar, Bond, Vaas, Warne, Muralitharan, Anderson etc. His early career days he also faced Marshall, Imran, Abdul Qadir etc albeit for a lesser time. Then came Dhoni and the high scores he got in ODIs showed what else was possible. Sachin still caught up to modern cricket level with his highest score.
