varna vivakshana was never there in olden days, as everyone is well properly educated. They know no one is superior to other. As I said earlier, somewhere we lost and got all ignorance probably due to the disconnectivity,, Olden days people never chose to be brahmin as the life was very tough, no guaranteed income, mostly life is uncertain, goes in penance and stringent life. Where as other vocations gave good income source to be content with. When there was no difference in what one does, people choosing the tough path was not anticipated. I think this is where the problem is coming, the board these days consists of people who dont understand the basics of temple, what it is for. Board is not there to make money on temple. Ikkada oka temple lo board president after we counted the money for Dasara/Deewali events said that we did decent, but didnt meet my target, so we have to work hard to get more money next year. That guys was never focused on how the events were conducted, he was always focused on making money on the temple. and his focus was how temple flourished in his tenure. The most important factor for any temple is sanctity and how events are conducted. Both are related. Board should understand that. Unfortunately none of the board I saw had ever this feeling or thought. Their targets and focus is always on making temple as money earning machine.. Thats very unfortunate. Sir, Undeniably I concur with the opinion that poojarula life is becoming miserable by the day.. I'm just looking out for the best option that can put them out of those hardships. No management will want to lose money when they can save some. By law minimum wages isthaaru.. Below are the possible solutions 1. manalaantollu veelainantha varaku tips or extra cash ivvochu.. I know couple of priests in NJ/NY area, who make lot of money as they get paid huge. They dont work for any temple, but they do like all in all service, like go with everything, that people dont have to make anything ready for pooja, all they have to do is invite guests and some times even food will be arranged by priests.As people wont have enough time and also need to spend time on arranging things, they go by this method. Disagree, that can be with individual services, but temple should stick to minimum wages, ikkada temple lo married priest ki 1000, bachelor ki 500 salary ichevallu, but then they had to offer minimum wages with health insurance as per local law, even then they are given very low, I know what they are paid currently. Very pathetic situation.. Priests have to work on an average 10-12 hrs per day including temple and outside temple activities, forget about the times and travel.. Sometimes they do poojas at 3AM having to travel 1 hour in winter.. Temple wont even pay for gas.. Then after service, they have to come back to Temple by 8:45AM,, and then go and do another pooja in some other location with similar traveling time. People can be so silly that they even tend to become horrible.. evadi poojalu vaadi ishtam anukondi.. Then all panthulu parents, when they are seeing the reality(demand for priests) should not encourage kids to follow the same suite. They should make them join in schools or something.. Priests who can survive on their own contacts leave temple after they get Green cards and do private practice. Temple protects them as long as they are on the payroll and pay them irrespective os season. Maa temple lo preiests gets base pay, House accomodation or HRA, Bonus of around 600 per month. Ikaa special festivals etc ainappudu additional osthundhi The 600 bonus is for doing preist services. Its not that easy saaru, Iron leg sastry was originally a priest, he got into movies and was branded as Iron leg sastry, when movies were down, he went back to do archaktvam, he was rejected by normal people saying he is iron leg, and wouldnt offer him any thing.. They thought the effect will get to them. Andukani he went to mandapet sani alayam to do the services their.. But still that didnt work. It all depends upon the temple and board. But what I heard from one of the priest is NJ/NY area, priests get lot as dakshina, and priests can survive with their own contacts without temple help. after my association to a temple, I came to know many shocking things about how temples work.. Even in USA, the priests were given 1000$ per month until few years ago. Then whatever the service they do outside temple, the dakshina priests get is additional.
