My answer was to Venu when he said it is cliched, the terrorism plot in the end is done to death. Terrorism in India is real. It's affecting millions on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. That is why that plot looked real - even if it is done to death. And it is done to death b'coz it's a fact of life in India. Finally, to answer your question - the movie happened to use the story of a musalman as one of the stories so that it works towards the end goal of bringing all the stories together. It's not about only muslims are oppressed, hindus or not or any such thing. | ||

Nothing exemplifies the word âCaricatureâ like the character Manoj Bajpai portrays. The entire string of Terrorism and Jihad feels as if it was straight from some the over-the-top front bench pleasing pseudo-secularist propaganda movie. ------------------------------------------------ Why? A musalman can't be a good person, become somewhat biased but not raise above the situation if needed? I don't know what is pseudo secularist about showing a muslim guy with a conlict forced him by fate? Is it some kind of fashion to use big words? Do people go to movies thinking oh, this has 4 stories, it has to have all 4 stories have to show strong heroes or else I am going to hate it? Do people go to movies thinking both heroes have to have strong roles or else I am going to hate it. I think this movie is not some ANR/NTR movie or Suman/Banuchander. The word for this movie is not "multistarrer", this movie is an ensemble cast movie. If you want to use big words, at least you can use the right one. | ||

Platypus: Vedam falters right from the word go. The scenes that introduce the characters are too short to make any impact. The emotional quotient of the movie is abysmally low leaving you stare indifferently at the scenes where you are supposed to feel for the characters or their plight. There are a number of well intended scenes in the movie that fall absolutely flat thanks to poor execution and not-so-great writing. Along with such scenes, we have a multitude of cliche-ridden formulaic sequences that make you squirm in your seats. ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------- why does a scene have to be long to make an impact?????? If the plight of an old man trying to save his grandson from bonded labor or the plight of musalman trying to prove that he is innocent doesn't move you, then may be you need to wonder what actually moves you. None of those scenes are cliches if you sitdown and think about it. They are things that happen to so many people on a daily basis. Many don't identify with them b'coz those things don't happen to them. Easy to say they are cliches b'coz you have never suffered like that. The one that is totally unrealistic is actually AA's reasoning for the need to get 40k, but that's for another thread. | ||
