This discussion is getting personal and in to irrelevant areas. The thread is about why dalits or for that matter anybody should not be educated in vedas and allowed in to temples to perform pooja or activities that are performed by a brahmin today. The answer is simple and easy though they are not practical to an extent in today's world where everybody is trying to have the best of both. Any body who has the drive and skill to learn vedas or shastras should be able to do it and go on to perform the rites in the true spirit of how the caste division came up. It is a matter of individual's capability if they can master the required material and have enough knowledge to perform that service. The arguments that only brahmins can do it because they are going it for centuries and it is part of their blood etc is fine but irrelevant, if somebody else can do it they should not be denied. It brings up different areas possible conflict and depriving the last of the brahmins from their traditional livelihood. This has to be studied and a careful decision made. Is RSS right in taking the decision to prevent conversion ? I am not sure, it would be good to eliminate untouchability firstly and then let them have equal access to places of worship. It is criminal to discriminate people based on their caste and not allow them in to places of worship and public places. The same people who convert to other religions still enjoy the benefits of belonging to the dalit castes or backward castes using reservations. The fact is that in India other religions also have caste hierarchy inbuilt in them and that is very hard to eliminate. there are lots of temples in andhrapradesh which are in utter dilapidated condition with no funds, if the govt stops concentrating more on fund generating temples and improve the condition of other temples then more people can find employment. The change though welcome has a different angle to it, what are we going to do with the traditional brahmins who are still following the same path their ancestors followed and educate their children in the pooja traditions and use it as livelihood? there is already a process, it is currently limited to brahmin kids only where they train the young children right from the ages of 6 onwards and train them in different shastras etc and they become certified and come out as full pandits. I don't see it enrolling people from other castes in near future. To all the people who might be thinking I am a Brahmin hater - please know that I come from the same caste but see the inequalities in their true light.In the same vein I also ask the question about poor brahmins who are struggling without any livelihood and do not have any opportunity because of poverty but living with a 'tag' of upper caste and are denied opportunity. Everybody has their opinion kada andi. I have nothing against brahmins or anybody but knowledge is not owned by anybody it belongs to everybody and whoever acquires them has a right to practice it. As I said if a brahmin is skilled in the art of warfare like dronacharya, they chose it as a profession of teaching it and practicing it, similarly valmiki a boya(hunter) by profession became a maharishi, a vishwamitra being a kshatriya became a brahmarishi. our vedas say Janma Jaata Shudra Sarve Karmenu Brahman Bhavati which means by birth everybody is a "SHUDRA" and only by actions we become Brahmins.
