Brahmins will not be disadvantaged with this move .. also .. ippudu oorlallo or dalita vaadallo main problem is .. due to lack of human resources for priesthood .. minimum Hindu representation kooda lekunda potondi .. and to fight conversions .. it should be a multi-pronged strategy to counter the missionaries and breeding muslims .. and aa strategy lo just one step matrame idi .. infact .. in the larger picture .. this move is a very good initiative for developing "Brahmin class" among dalits .. but I am sure, the poor brahmins u were mentioning would not be disadvantaged with this new thing, bcoz .. traditionally, these are the temples where dalits used to work over the years .. not a new development by any measure, but certainly .. getting back to the roots !

You can give gifts as Dharmam to anyone you want.. it is no where proscribed..
But.. coming to Daanam.. there is the concept of Apatra Daanam.. Apatra Daanam is infact counter productive.. this is coz.. you are giving Daanam to wash off your sins.. the person accepting it should have the power to accept it through religious rituals and rites.. thats the reason why even many Brahmans do not accept Daanam.. |

same question ki answer icharu already. This is based on practice prevalent at the time. Brahmins are the only caste that was supposed to be living off the rites they perform that is their income. so danam ayina dharmam ayina they are chosen because they live off the alms. The idea to start with in the beginning was the giver of knowledge should always be humble so they have to beg for food rather than have a way of creating wealth, that is how the concept of danam dharmam came in to being.
