Ganguly - simply unable to motivate his players especially Indian players to perform better.It is clear that Ganguly's captaincy in the past was successful because of the performance of Sachin, Kumble, Dravid and Laxman. Ganguly was just feeding off them. Look at the performance of teams for which Sachin, Kumble etc are playing,they are doing well.During his captaincy ganguly had the likes of Sachin, Dravid and Laxman in test cricket and Yuvi to in one day team to score runs. These were the consistent batsmen because of whom India won. Ganguly himself couldnt score much and averaged 37 in his captaincy. Remove the other players and india would have lost those few away matches that india won. Due to dalmiya india played zimbabwe and bangladesh more than any other team during Gangulys captaincy and thats why he reached the figure of 21 victories. 9 out of 21victories are against weak sides, only series win outside india is in zimbabwe (Dravid led India in 2 tests in pak & Ganguly 1 test in 2003). For every victory india earned abroad under ganguly, we lost the immediate next tests. Will a good or great captain ever allow this to happen 3 times one after the other?.Either a captain leads from the front like sachin in this IPL or should be able to get the best out of them, like Warne does. They show what captaincy requires. History has shown such great captains, like Clive Llyod who built world beating teams, like Imran Khan who used rookies at times and defeated opponents, like Border, Waugh etc. This IPL has shown to those who claim ganguly to be a great captain as not one that great. If at all he was then surely he would have marshalled his resources.Instead he is blasting the players with third grade zamindari aristocratic language. | ||
