When I was selling my corolla I suggested the buyer to get it checked for his own satisfaction. Aa test cheyinchukunnaka... he did not bargain anything and paid me what I have asked. naa feeling aithe 2002 Corolla - 90K unna car ni 5000/6000 madhya lo ammali .. and 2008 Corolla with 40K mileage unna car ki .. 9000 adagandi .. do not go over 10k and what to look for while buying a used car ante .. 1) engine - start the engine, leave it alone for a couple of minutes. Listen to the noise it makes. If you feel it normal, it is good. Anything abnormal, simply open the hood and try to see what is causing the noise. I would check to see, if any parts have been replaced, the engine oil color, too dark means, it hasn't been maintained well; then other parts in the hood. My guess is, for a 2008 Toyota with 40K, it should be very very clean (meaning no oil marks or tool work) * While taking the test drive, put it severe test, test for pick up, test for high-speed braking, test for good gas mileage - all the while keep an ear on the engine noise ! 2) After you move the car a bit, check to see if there are any fresh oil marks in the parking space. If you find any, that means you have oil leaks and check where you have them, I would prefer not buying a car with oil leaks. 3) Check for Muffler - usually if it rusts, you will have to change it soon ! 4) Check for Heater, AC, lights, Cruise, hand brakes, brakes, CD/tape, headlights, power windows, power locks 5) check for tyres - usually the simplest way to measure the life of a tire is put a penny in the tire threads and see till where it fills, if its comes to more than half, it is good and has good amount of life on it I recently bought an used car and have helped many friends buy one, I do not remember going wrong after these checks.
