Rajesh, Rising & other who initiated to work for this cause - please keep me in the loop. If you guys are going to the actual place to help the needy there could be nothing better than that. I would be willing to donate upto Rs 10000. BTW Rajesh - if you're picking up a village where 60K would be sufficient, we may want to consider doing that with a couple more villages since CCDB contribution would accomodate that maybe. Just my 2 cents. For me this is the best way of donation since i'm never sure donating to CM fund, & other media organizations would actually reach the respective folks. | ||

LSP FLOOD RELIEF FUND & Volunteering Hi all, This is the time for all of us to extend support for the flood victims in whatever way we can. Here are the activities that Loksatta is currently doing 1. Call center (040-40405050) : Many people are willing to help flood victims. We are coordinating the effort of sending food/water/ cloths to flood affected places. Along with Call center employees, our volunteers are also working from the call center 2. Fund raising : Mobilizing the funds for the flood victims. How can we contribute? 1. We need volunteers in HUGE numbers to coordinate the call center activities. 2. Cheques & DDs can be drawn in favour of "LOKSATTA PARTY FLOOD RELIEF FUND". As the account is being activated in next 2 days, we will need to hand over the cheques @ Ameerpet office for now. Dr JP will be in Ameerpet call center on 4th Oct between 11:30 - 2pm to monitor the activities. You can handover the cheques directly to him 3. Provide food/ water/ cloths. I don't think it is prudent to send clothing, or goods from overseas. The shipping costs will be too much. Best way is to send funds, to orgs like the one mentioned by Shawshank. If some org like fedex, or UPS agrees to ship the goods for free, it will be great. It is most suitable to tie up with a local org doing this stuff. They will know what is needed most, by whom. Money will be the best thing to donate, coz it can be converted to things most useful. If we send 100 bags of clothing, but if there is more need for medicines, it will not be very useful. | ||
