ivi lekunda inka em freedom unnattu bhayya .. nenu Time magazine lo oka article chadivaanu .. in that the writer said, that if you are setting up a factory in XYZ province and need 5000 workers to work for you, then the way companies operate is .. bribe some millions of $ and ask for 5000 workers and the communist party deputes its cadre to bring 5000 workers and also the wages are fixed by the party and no one can form a union and demand for more wages or reject that particular deal. It surely might be an engineering marvel .. I will not dispute it, but I have read that they did not even compensate the people who lost livelihood due to that land. That is barbarian dictatorship !
I will not contest this. And this is actually my reason why there can be an movement for democracy that can be propped up ! I am sure there is resentment in people when they have to listen how many children they can bear. Mind you, I am all for population control, but forcible methods are a shame. You need to make the govt policies so that they give a carrot to people who adopt family planning. But in China it is the other way round, they give a stick when they violate ! US chala try chesindi, kaani China is different from old USSR. nothing is impossible but when people are not really that much vexed with the ruling party, its hard to create dissatisfaction. one thing I noticed though, in China, the economic disparity between poor and rich is 100 times wider than that in India. rural poverty is much more severe in China. at the same time they have some minimum social assistance unlike in India. | ||

nenu China business meeda two times vellanu, I spent 6 weeks there (two years ago), each time 3 weeks. I went in to the interior china apart from Beijing, Shanghai, Hongkong etc.. prior to my visit, my perception was completely different, I assumed its an oppressed regime and no say for people etc.. My experience is opposite, they do not have that many restrictions there. people are free to do what ever they want. yes there are curbs on media and any demonstrations will be dealt with military might. to start with there are no land rights (no one owns the land outright). farmers will have permits to cultivate certain lands and live off from the revenue on the produce. they also need permits to move from rural areas to cities. single child policy is relaxed some what, there are several loopholes in the law now, if you have about $20k you can have a second child. I visited Three Gorges dam. its an engineering miracle, they build it in about 10 years. it would have taken another 20 years in any other country to build a similar project. they moved (evacuated) one million people to build this. I found the society being very similar to India. corruption, pollution, traffic, family values very similar to those in India. only difference is the language. otherwise you really don't see a big difference between India and China really. In many ways, China is more capitalist than US. | ||
