Human mind tends to seek attention in its own limited realm of tangible world. Some seek it through flaunting ones body and some others do so by means of something else.
I come from a school of tatva vedantha......on which all the hindu scriptures are based. It believes that its the intellect that qualifies a soul and the body is just a mere shell/embellishment which will perish and wither with time.
Every human qualifies his world vision through his intellect and after deciding either ad hoc or universal notions of propriety, resorts to one form of action or the other. Any act based on body has, in its precincts, been defined as "Adhama" and anything that engenders out of intellect as "Tatva".
All human acts are to be with in the limits of Tatvam such that carnal and selfish drives wont overtake the need for spiritual divinity. In srimad bhagatvatam is a verse which reads the follwing:
"All those who can't understand the divinity of the mind will resort to the adhama avastha and will fall prey to the illusions that it generates i.e beauty or lack thereof. Ruthvika, defines hence that all men and women need to cover their bodies to shield its influence on the Adhama avastha of the perceptor which will make the world a more divine and sin free world."
