Edison jewelry store robbed at gunpoint May 20, 2009 Two armed robbers charged into a jewelry store Tuesday afternoon and held four employees at gunpoint before fleeing with cash and jewelry, police said Wednesday. The holdup at Aabhushan Family Jewelers at 155 Wood Ave. began at about 2:10 p.m. when two employees were standing near the open rear door, Lt. Joseph Shannon said. At that point the two robbers entered, pulled out black semiautomatic handguns and ordered the workers to take them to the safe. The bandits also confronted the other two employees working at the time, and all four were brought into the office, Shannon said. The men went through the safe and fled on foot with an unknown amount of diamonds, gold and cash. Police searched unsuccessfully for the gunmen, the lieutenant said. No one was injured in the robbery. The store, at the corner of Oak Tree Road, was burglarized last November.
