The main character in taxi driver , Travis - is self contradcting person like many of us.. he despises filth in the city yet he watches X-rated films and confused between what he did as a soldier and what he was doing as a taxi driver.. He throws away the only chance to get out of his horrendous life - by taking the high class woman to a •••• movie. In many ways Travis was commoner where people tend to associate themselves.. not some gun flinging hero. I guess thats made TAxi driver a modern classic. | ||

I think the movies intentions was to take us through wats goin on in his mind....u take a guy with a fcked up past....give him a taxi n make him drive through the dark streets of NY at nights....give him no reason to wake up in the morning other than to drive taxi.....and wats he going to do????? Well the movie scores with the climax...we never know his intentions clearly..its a dangerous journey dat his mind makes..he could flip easily...so wats he going to do??? go on a killin spree like any disturbed psychos do....or do something sensible that means something .... The climax was awesome....and the way movie ends with betsy meetin travis again is perrrfect.... --- betsy ni kalavakpoyina.....what's the film loosing? he can say the same dialogues...with his collegues....about not being a hero... yes...i agree with the very last shot seconds before title roll.......he is still not finished....aney....feel vacchindhi naaku.... This is more realistic and well crafted than Scarface. Prahaar (directed by Nana himself) ani oka cinema hindi lo vochindi.... it was an intelligent copy of this, although it was its own share of good. A war veteran coming in to a city of crimes. Not quite adjusted to the society around and creates a blood shed on the streets..... Nana gone a bit over board by adding some war aspects and a but of sentiments and social cause. FF bro, identity crisis meedha vochina films lo idhi master piece... Scarface is of different genre. It was for masses.....for all those who like a super hero... a rise to heights from nothing. This was a character study of a complex guy and his everyday thoughts. This is more realistic and well crafted than Scarface. I was blown away when I saw this movie first time. Not for the technique or story. But the characterization of the protagonist. Surely it was not about the V'nam was veterans or the prostitutes. Its about the streets of NY and the identity crisis of the Travis. You will love the way he transforms to a psychic by his obsession of being recognised by people and you will love each every thought of him on this path. He wouldnt have become what he was when Betsy would have understood his initial innosence. Even the end was excellent on showing him down to earth when he actually gets some fame for the famous blood shed. Felt like D'Nero was born to play Travis. The way he speaks to himself and shows off his obsession in every frame of the movie. Jodie was child actress then. She dint have much role. But, the fame she got was for playing such role, inspite being underage. Again, I remember reading somewhere that it was body double that was used for nude scenes of Jo. | ||

Taxi driver nacchali antey koddhiga brain lo dark alleys ki sotu undali....Unless u think like travis bickle now n then in real life u cant appreciate taxi driver...its a master piece....I never knew u can can make movies purely based on character study n yet the character is not as fcked up as forrest gump but yet entertaining...Taxi driver rocks..taxi driver rules..for a movie lover there are movies b4 he watches taxi driver n movies after he watches taxi driver....completely changes the perspective on entertainment..... | ||

saw this last night..... did like it that much......idhi kooda aa time ki linked...film anukunta...Newyork filth.....vietnam war.... robert de niro is very charming int he intital part but then i didnt follow whay he is doing what he is doing in the film..... film review chadivi....Jodie foster ki ekkuva part utnundhi anukunna.....but very small role..... between Scarface and Taxidriver....I liked scarface.....but De-niro is my favourite over alpacino...... usual film lovers choosey untaaru ee cinema.....nenu late ga choosa....
