okkamogaadu brother, Pak lo, 1947 varaku, hindus baaganay unday vaallu. At the time of partition, there were exodus of people from both sides of the border due to the violence that erupted. Many hindus from sindh and sikhs from paki punjab migrated to india and indian punjab. At that time, many hindus ni champesaaru. But from around 1948 to till 1971, that country was calm and less religious. In 1971, at thet ime of Bangladesh war, many hindus were killed and many temples were destroyed. Many east pakistani hindus (Bangladesis) migrated to India (Assam and west bengal), due to west pakistan military's atrocities (repulu and mardarlu). Almost 1 crore moved to india. Indian PM Indira Gandhi acted swiftly and a separate country formed, called bangladesh in 1971. At that time, Zulficar ali Bhutto was the PM and he was the main reason for the seperation of bangladesh. Bengali speaking pakistanis in east pakistan elected Mujibir Rahman as theie leader and his party got the maximum seats in the combined pakistan parliament, but zulficar ali bhutto, house arrested Mujibir and cancelled the elections, that resulted in the movement for the separate country, bangladesh. Infact, bangladeshi writer, Tasleema Nasreen, in her book, Lajja (shame), mentioned clearly how the hindus and their temples were destroyed in bangla. That is why, she was kicked out of her country. { Several Hindu temples have been destroyed in Pakistan. A notable incident was the destruction of the Ramna Kali Mandir in former East Pakistan. The temple was bulldozed by the Pakistan Army on March 27, 1971.The Dhakeshwari Temple was severely damaged during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, and over half of the temple's buildings were destroyed. In a major disrespect of the religion, the main worship hall was taken over by the Pakistan Army and used as an ammunitions storage area. Several of the temple custodians were tortured and killed by the Army though most, including the Head Priest, fled first to their ancestral villages and then to India and therefore escaped death. In 2006, the last Hindu temple in Lahore was destroyed to pave the way for construction of a multi-storied commercial building. The temple was demolished after officials of the Evacuee Property Trust Board concealed facts from the board chairman about the nature of the building. When reporters from Pakistan-based newspaper Dawn tried to cover the incident, they were accosted by the henchmen of the property developer, who denied that a Hindu temple existed at the site.[66] Several political parties in Pakistan have objected to this move, such as the Pakistan People's party and the Pakistani Muslim League-N.[67][68] The move has also evoked strong condemnation in India from minority bodies and political parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress Party, as well as Muslim advocacy political parties such as the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat.[69] A firm of lawyers representing the Hindu minority has approached the Lahore High Court seeking a directive to the builders to stop the construction of the commercial plaza and reconstruct the temple at the site. I asked the same question to my dad last Wednesday he said at the time of partition they were given choice and most of the Hindus came back to India annaru but some families are still there and there are some temples. | ||
