Mulayam Singh Yadav dares Modi to contest from Uttar Pradesh IBN7 | Posted on Jul 11, 2013 at 01:10pm IST New Delhi: Even as Gujarat Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) poll campaign panel chief Narendra Modi is likely to contest from two Lok Sabha seats in the 2014 General Elections with one of them in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav dared him to contest from the state. While preparing his plan for the 2014 polls, Modi has been treading cautiously as he is keen to ensure that the BJP emerges as the single largest party after the polls. With Uttar Pradesh accounting for the maximum number of Lok Sabha seats, any party doing well in the state plays a crucial role in government formation at the Centre and Modi's strategy is to ensure that BJP wins a large number of seats in the state. But Mulayam Singh Yadav while targeting Modi also hinted at the formation of the Third Front in the run up to the 2014 polls. He said that Modi will see the reality if he fights election from Uttar Pradesh. He said that while he does not welcome Modi's decision to contest from Uttar Pradesh, but if the Gujarat Chief Minister takes the plunge, he will know the reality of the state. Mulayam dares Modi to contest from Uttar Pradesh The Samajwadi Party chief believes that his party will win a large number of seats in Uttar Pradesh in the 2014 polls. Ever since Modi's elevation as BJP poll panel chief, his political opponents have renewed their attack on him. While the Congress as always has been targeting Modi, a few days back BSP chief Mayawati also lashed out at Modi through her party's Brahmin rally. Now Mulayam Singh Yadav has also joined the bandwagon. Uttar Pradesh's 80 Lok Sabha seats play a crucial role in government formation and that's why Modi has given the state's command to his close aide Amit Shah. Shah has already played the Hindutva card. On the other hand Mulayam believes that his party will win a large number of seats in Uttar Pradesh in the 2014 polls. His party is in power in the state and he has claimed that no single party will get majority on it own in the next Lok Sabha election in next Lok Sabha election. He added that the Samajwadi Party will emerge as the third largest party after the Congress and BJP and that is why he is hinting at the formation of Third Front. |
