Visakhapatnam: Work of the pylon that will be unveiled by TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu on April 27 to mark the culmination his 2,900-km Vastunna Meekosam walkathon is going on a brisk pace at Kurmannapalem. TD leaders are also making elaborate arrangements to make the public meeting, scheduled for the same day at the AU Engineering College grounds here a huge success. TD leaders are expecting 10 lakh supporters to throng the venue, Naidu will enter Kurmannapalem from Duvvada on the last day of the padayatra on April 26. After camping for the night, he will symbolically walk for half a kilometre before reaching the pylon at about 3 pm the following day. The pylon constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crore will be 60 feet tall and 26 feet wide. From the pylon, Naidu would be taken in an open top jeep followed by 10,000 motorcycles and 400 cars to the meeting venue in the city. Party leaders had booked 12 trains till Wednesday evening and some more would be arranged by Friday evening to bring party workers and sympathisers from all parts of the state to the port city. Around 500 buses were also hired to bring people from the rural areas to the city. Meanwhile. Naidu called on his party cadre to emulate him and work for the revival of the party, keeping personal and family life aside. He was speaking at Sankhavaram village near Vizag. | ||
