Thokka position le...success is relative kadha and i am off the targets i set for myself - 10 years back i set a target for myself that i should be the CEO or CFO of a company in 10 years. I am off that mark. I had a financial target, i am missing that target too... Anyway, that apart, in India the only clean and honest way to do well is studying. That's what i did moderately better...anthe...oka track lo ala vellipothannam.. But if you ask me one thing to grow - Read the Economist. Reduce DBing by 2 hours and read the Economist. I owe my current job to Economist and also the new one to it. The CEO who i was interviewing with said that the Economist was his Bible and there was an instant connect with that. I read it end to end from letters to obituary. We talked about Salvador Dali, tensions in the South China Sea, Arab spring etc.
Yeah, what to do...i will miss Bangalore thoroughly....i don't miss Hyderabad too that much.. | ||

Yeah - i will be global head of M&A for this company reporting to the global CEO. The company moved its worldwide Headquarters to India to focus on emerging markets. It is going to be only a one man team though.
Yeah, Delhi is great for the arts. Even when i go on work to Delhi and had a couple of hours of free time, i used to go to NGMA, Hauz Khas, Bahai temple, Lodhi gardens, Humayun's Tomb etc. I just wish it was safer. Food is good - i have been to the regular suspects (Nirula's in Connaught), Karim's near Nizamuddin, some good ones in Khan Market, South Ex, GK etc. I think the kids will get a different exposure for a few years, that is always useful. | ||

Congratulations and Good luck with the move Have lived in Delhi for a few years though it was back in school days..While safety is an issue , there are lots of pluses too - if you enjoy theatre , art films , Delhi is a great hub (at least used to be ) And you cannot beat the roadside Aloo tikki, Roshan di kulfi's falooda kulfi and the chola bhatoora 5 years ago went to Delhi on a visit and took the kids across town to Karol Bagh for Roshan Di kulfi The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance; the wise grows it under his feet : James Oppenheim | ||

Yes, that is my biggest problem with NCR - the Punjabi/ Jat aggro mindset is difficult to digest...safety is an issue..we just have to be cautious. Bangalore/ Hyderabad/ Mumbai best in safety aspects. I am just viewing it as a 4-5 year stint and hopefully post that come back southside. Nowadays Delhi has the most jobs in the country (much more than even Mumbai) and after a certain level, if you are not in IT, you have to move out of cities like Bangalore/ Hyd. So the decision was forced in a way, unless i wanted to compromise on career.. | ||

After 10 years of staying in the same house, with the same maid and the same newspaper and milk vendors.. and after 7 years in the same job it is time for a long journey across the country to Delhi/ Gurgaon to a new company. I thought i would settle down and retire here in Bangalore, but at my level and in my field there are few jobs here in Bangalore. I have always been hesitant towards Delhi, but ultimately i got a good role and thought it worth taking a risk in a new company and new city and get out of my comfort zone. To stir up the pot a bit, i am also moving out of internet to the exciting field of gears and transmissions I have been whiling away the last few months as i had delegated my work quite well and was taking it easy. Gave me a lot of time for DBing, which would be bit tough as i try to house and school hunt and settle down in my new role. Anyway, here we go...} |
