OT baba review We hated RGV to the core when he had visited 26/11 victim sites next day along with then Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh's team. That irresponsible act,allowing a movie director to the site(with unexpressed intention of making a movie out of that tragedy),was one of the reasons CM lost his Chief Minister ship. But,looks like that live interaction with the tragedy scene would have shown immense impact on RGV. His heart might have felt the horrific pain of the victims and we knew that his directorial mind has the ability to capture those emotions. And, finally four and half years later we are witnessing what he is up to. HE DID NOT COMMERCIALIZE the tragedy - though there is a huge scope to do so - by infusing Jingoism,Sentiment and Cinematic large scale attacks and NSG counter attack. He did not try to cover A2Z of those incidents but narrated just one out of multiple teams' sequences. Being re-known director who always try to glorify real life villains n mafia , RGV restrained from doing so this time - but he is visibly curious to portray the character of Kasab. One will be disappointed if he expects a gigantic scale action episodes keeping in mind the scale of original attacks. As told earlier, RGV took very small part of overall tragedy and EXCELLED. No Nariman point attack, NO in-TAJ rooms horror, No Helicopters, NO police hungama , No jewish centre attack , No NSG's feats...Overall budget might be just 4 or 5 crores , but still this docu-movie impress us a lot. In creating FEAR, SHOCK, Sensitivity and Reality everything RGV rocked.The legend director of crime/mafia genre is back with docu-bang. He has balls, iron balls.Muslim Terrorists ni vaalla nayakulni kummi kummi kummu denkaadu mortuary scene lo WITH DIRECT REFERENCES.He did good homework on Jihaadi preaching and perfectly countered their ideology. Jingoism,Facebook lo fake patriotism laanti erriP cinematic kadhal denkakundaa straight ga point to point..HATSOFF MAN Standout scenes : Kasab's interrogation followed by Mortuary scene,Police constables in Leopald cafe attack and many more reality bites. Dialogues truly deserve national award.Nana Patekar did gr8. Evvaru edchina don't care - Please must watch 26/11..In USA, this no star cast,flop streak director movie collections are good | ||

That exactly was my thought as well. We all know what happened on that fateful day. The images on television kept numbing our senses for two whole days as the distressing acts disturbed us all, leaving a pall of gloom over Mumbai city and other parts of the country as well. Any filmmaker who takes a real-life topic and keels it for a movie audience has to be gutsy. For Ram Gopal Varma, he had nothing to lose. His AAG and NOT A LOVE STORY (another film based on another real life incident) have been his nemesis along with the recent BHOOT RETURNS. With 26/11, he comes back into the limelight; 24x7 for at least the next one week. The film helps one understand the complete crumbling of intelligence and the state of our policemen on beat, most with just laathis. One scene at the Leopold Cafe highlights this with two cops lobbing stones into the cafe after the terrorists have moved on. They have just their laathis with them. A stark display of how unarmed and vulnerable our policemen are. But what really gets you to laud the director is the manner in which he has narrated the entire incident - through the central character, Joint Commissioner of Police (Nana Patekar). We see the terror that unfolded through his eyes. Kudos to the censors for not altering a single dialogue. The Fs and Bs impact keeping the entire situation in mind. What is truly enlightening is the manner in which the Commissioner of Police takes Kasab to meet his friends when the latter expresses his desire to be with his colleagues. The scene at the morgue is a chilling revelation to him of how he has been made a scapegoat by those who brainwashed him into this mindless, senseless act. Kasab turns from hyena to chicken. The entire sequence handled by RGV and delivered by Patekar needs a standing ovation. For those, who for long felt that films on terror target them will love the way in which a peace message has been sent. ''If only you had read the Quran once, you would know the meaning of peace,'' Nana Patekar's character tells Kasab. RGV and Eros International should dub this film in as many languages as possible. Methinks it should have an international release. Welcome back, RGV! | ||

Watching the horrific events in this outstanding film is an experience that defies the normal cinematic experience. This is a deviously dramatic and authentic recreation of the ghastly terror attack. The film's end-credits roll backwards suggesting that the film imperatively took us back in time to recent history so that we don't repeat the same mistakes of a lax administration failing to cope with suicidal terror attacks. RGV ends the film with a moving rendering of "Raghupati raghav" in the background as Nana Patekar's character gazes hopefully into a peaceful ocean. Nana holds the film together. He feels every line that he utters. His heart bleeds for each one of the 166 people who died on that night. When he tells Kasab in a choked voice, "I have a son your age", Nana isn't faking it. His performance goes way beyond acting. One of the best films in recent times on the wages of terrorism, and on a par with Katheryn Bigelow's "Zero Dark Thirty", "The Attacks Of 26/11" is a stunning wake-up call for those of us who think Mumbai's night of terror cannot happen again. With this one work of riveting resonance, Varma has wiped away the bitter taste of his last half-a-dozen films.
