below is what I read from one version of Geetha... and I'm drawing my own interpretations based on what is stated there: the intrinsic nature of a soul is love towards the supreme. But when a soul wants to experience its individuality is when it enters the cycle of birth and death and enters this illusionary world. One analogy that is explained in Geetha is that soul is compared with a mirror, which when enters maya, is covered by layers of dust, that it obstructs the vision. It is also stated that once soul enters illusionary world, the 'love' towards supreme is turned into 'lust'. Now, my interpretation starts: The very basic form of lust one possesses is ego of self. On that, additional layers of dust accumulates which are ego of family, ego of relatives, ego of caste creed religion nation and so on! So, if one says that they are devoid of ego of self but have their leinence towards some group or belief or thought process (other than towards supreme) then they are lying. Either you have to get rid of all egoes at a time or you have to, very patiently peel off one ego after the other and finally confront ego for self! And once you do that, you would attain salvation or mukti or whatever it is! So, yes, for any soul that is still struck in illusionary world, there wouldn't be anything dearer than self ego. PS: now do not lecture me that I'm also prone to ego sighting my lienience towards a party or a person, I never claimed I'm devoid of ego! all the good and nice feelings that man shows come when everything is nice and pleasant. what happens when man passes through extreme rough phases, continuous turmoil in life?......he will be at face to face with his ego and desires..... the ego comes out bare without any pretensions with its all devouring rythm of self satisfaction....it continously echoes me,myself,i,mine. It seems even not so seemingly selfish people who start with noble intentions and compassionate ideas are able to challenge that clamour of ego or douse its all devouring fire.....otherwise how can they become sexual perverts,murderers,thieves,rapists...the complete opposite of what they started with, the ideals they profess ....It seems the more you resist the ego the more it bares and shows its fangs |
