100% right. we went to Manisharma show. When there were racy songs, full josh and after the song full claps. When there were some nice melody songs, audience went into sleep, after the song very few claps. After observing this repeated phenomenon, they continued more racy and item songs.  | ||

People seem intent on being unreasonable. As a film musician, Raja has provided all sorts of songs. That is his job. He is doing it for the film, for the money given to him. In Raja's concert(not a movie), he can choose to put songs, in whatever language, that he wishes to do. It's our right to choose to go or not. There is no obligation that Raja must do certain type of music only because you are paying money. After all, what he wants to bring to audience is ultimately up to him. The other party that kicks in is the organizers who should have told him about what they prefer. The organizers have to pay artists regardless of the shows success or flop status. The singers can sing acapella. Chithra once did that to please a Telugu request in a show organized by Mallus. But do you think Raja can do that, when the point of his concert is his music? Definitely, point of Raja's music is his instruments/music. Lyrics and singers are there but compare it to being hero with character artists and comedians. Can we expect Mahesh babu to take sideline and let comedians and character artists get more time. Seeing a lot of people sharing views is great. Hypothetical comments from hate feeling is not so great. No one running a show with that many musicians can break away from agenda without huge hiccups. If you want to hate, go hate the organizers. Especially if this is standard. I think they are all Telugus. No communication problem, no translation. But as far as I can see, Raja and every singer there tried to give a good concert at NJ, within their constraints. | ||

Correct cheppavu annai.. Music concert's are a reality just based on money paid by the patrons. And it is the duty of the organizers and the guest to make sure the people get what they paid for. As a Telugu, I admire my language more than any Raja or SPB. I would like to hear Telugu songs too, and see each and every patron reasonably happy. In that aspect, the organizers failed miserably. It is like going to a dhabha and find they are only selling "Idli Sambar" Also, music has no language is not completely true. How can a singer underestimate the symphony of the lyric and rendition with the beats of the tune. YES - cinema music DOES have a language, we patrons hear it as a medley with Telugu words. Rest of the logic can go to hell. IR sir, we do commend your love for your mother tongue. But keep in mind, who you are catering to.. SPB sir, it is not apt to make such statements when a huge part of your survival and success depends on the language the rendition is composed. S Rajamouli is a film director. Bapu is a film director. Will you go to both persons film expecting the same type of film. Music has no language barrier but people do. nenu already post chesa....IR is film musician, NOT chitti babu, eemani sankara sastry, pt ravisankar type musician where you enjoy only their instrument. without lyrics, there is nothing much to enjoy in IR music in a live concert. many people here ardent lovers of SPB and IR both...people are complaining only about organizers who claimed tamil and telugu concert and collected money..but failed to keep that promise. music has no language..ivi anni BS when you announced its tamil & telugu concert. | ||

I don't understand why Tamils in Toronto and Telugus in NJ are hating on Raja. The crowd in Toronto was supposedly 30,000 and it looks like the entire crowd was upset. The crowd in NJ was 8000, but while the NJ Tamil crowd is raving happily about it, the Telugu side is raging mad about it. 1) Show organizers in both cities should have requested for song list and informed Raja of requirements. At least, basic requirements like people needing more energetic songs. NJ concert Telugu organizers should have done a better job. Raja did what he was paid to do and that was to do a concert. SPB is a part of the troupe. It's not his show, for him to show his 'Telugu'ness. The whole team had to adjust to the fact that Suhasini and some singers didn't show up. I just saw a clip of the NJ concert and noticed how hard SPB tried to bring Telugu into a conversation. It's not so easy. He was the master there trying to handle a show that had no host, Mano trying his best to host and Raja wanting to just keep playing music. SPB is really Raja's guardian angel in these kind of situations. 2) Raja as a musician who did his first big concert in 2005 Chennai told the audience then and in all concerts since then that he has come to give them an experience of how the songs will sound live. Please don't clap between songs, whistle or talk. If you know a musician, then go to his event knowing what to expect. You don't go to an opera thinking let me get drunk and dance. Likewise, this is a concert, but a Raja concert. 3) I don't think Raja was trying to show Tamil favour. His native tongue is Tamil and he was upset by the conduct of the audience. So he spoke out in the tongue that was natural to him. SPB has many times said Telugu is the only language that flows out of his mind without thought. I am sure Tamil audience too was drinking and being loud and Raja treats them with same mind. Reviews say Raja was very curt with the Toronto audience as well and people were angry. That's his character. Not excusing it. But I am saying don't expect Raja to be Rahman soft. 4) If you want to show hatred on any person, then talk to the Telugu organizers who did a half baked job of getting Telugu songs in the show. Put a link of Raja saying there is equal number of Telugu and Tamil songs in this show, then we can see. Personally, I expected better equation but then, that's just my expectation. 5) In any event of this magnitude, there will be problems. It's not Chennai, to have everything ready knowing who the audience will be, and to test the avenue for a week. Nor is Raja like Chakri to ask the audience to rock and jingle along with them. There are people for who music is divine. If you enjoy music, go and enjoy. If you are going for a drink and dance fest, a Raja concert is the wrong place. It should have been to the nearest bar. No other man like SPB will be born as Telugu again. A man who ruled all of South, except Kerala, with his voice. A man who a Telugu, Tamil and Kannadiga will identify with. You and I will be long gone, but the name of SPB and Raja will live on. Think twice before slandering names in the heat of the moment. |
