We don't have to dwell this long at discussing DSLR!!! first decide if you expect your lens to produce vibrant and warm colors with a little soft image vs sharpness with pale colors....have done enough of testing...Nikkor lens are a steal any time for that price especially those from Nippon Kogaku...rest of the stuff like IS, dust repellant blah...blah...is nice to have. Remember you don't shoot with the features...it's the lens that does the core work... Don't go for zoom lens with large focal length range, simply because as the range tends to widen, it becomes mechanically difficult to build lens with good aperture settings...where as to work with prime lens alone, it takes time to change the lens and it gets boring after a while... Try to limit your wide angle focal length to 18mm(28 mm in 35mm parlance), the reason being if you go below this, adverse affects like barrel distortion begin to spoil the images... It all boils down to color vs sharpness...personally I am ready to sacrifice little sharpness for the vibrant and warm colors.... The biggest negative thing in D40 is that it doesn't have an internal focus drive motor. Meaning no mechanical focus drive pin. It can auto focus with AF-S and AF-I lenses (those with built-in focus motors). Better go with next model like D60. Or best bet for that budget with zoom lens is Olympus E420. First of all... lens cannot be interchanged across brands. Nikon lens ni Canon lo use seyyalemu. Thats why people decide which family they want to attach to with SLRs in general. Oka saari oka brand use sette... they will try to fix to that as they can reuse the lens on the same brand cameras. I have Nikon N70 which I'm not totally happy with it... andhuke ee saari Canon ki shift ayyanu... apart from having a Canon ZOOM lens. | ||

Same here...I do purchase mostly at Costco...but now their return policy is 90 days ...compared to Amazon which is 14 days.. In any case the E-510 is available for $699 on Costco vs $610 on Amazon.. BTW..ippudu XSi lo F model zooms kooda vadocha? Endukante...Nikon D-60 lo only AF lenses matrame allowed... Naa deggara oka 6 year old Nikon SLR undi (Nikon 28-80mm f/3.3-5.6 G-AF Lens). But looks I cannot use it on a D-60. The only way I can use that lens is by buying a D-80 or higher..which sounded pricey...any idea if I can use that lens on any of the models we discussed so far..i.e. Olympus 410/420/510..Canon XSi..Nikon D60/80.. | ||

I always buy from COSTCO. They have very good return policy. Naa lens lo moisture vacchindi ani Olympus vaadiki call sette (after using it for more than 2 months) vaadu first ekkada konnavu ani adigaadu... I said COSTCO. Then simple ga velli akkada return icchey... he will take it annadu. Problem was when I went to returning mine they did not have any new available in store... so cash theesukunna but for some reason... ala ala postpone chesthu vaccha. 2 months back Canon XSi release chesinappudu I compared Nikon D80, Canon XSi, Sony A350K. Naaku ee mooditlo Canon model nacchindi. PS: Nenu E410 konappudu it was at $799 with dual lens. Usual ga they give you with dual lens in Olympus which again is a bonus for new timers. Canon di naa dhaggira oka ZOOM lens undi which I bought it long back... so aa lens kooda use seyocchu le ani... Canon ki incline ayya. | ||

Simple funda chebutha... easy for starters to understand. Every lens is defined in some format like 28-80mm or 35-70mm ila untaayi kadha. First unna number entha thakkuva unte it will capture that many people (WIDE) in a frame and next number is for ZOOM. So 28-80 is better lens than 35-70 lens in this example. Clear? | ||

Olympus cameras fall under 4/3rd systems antaaru... usual ga sensor size konchem chinnadiga untadi compared to conventional DSLRs. Price wise also kooda saana baguntadi. Picture quality kooda chaala baagunnayi. I used Olympus E410 before... which also has LIVE VIEW feature. Unlike regular Digital Cameras... DSLRs lo live picture undadhu... you have to aim picture via viewfinder and then take a snap. LCD is used for reviewing the pictures only. My recommendation is better to start with mid level DSLRs like Olympus E410/420. Olympus lo 510 is a bulky camera... naaku aa size nacchaledhu. So is Canon D80, Canon 40D. Few suggestions before you buy: 1. Go to any electronic store and check the piece there in person before you make a decision. 2. Buy in stores which have good return policy so that if at all you are not satisfied then you can return it. | ||

IS feature is important for many reasons. Oka vela IS feature camera body lo available unte (as in Sony A350K) then any lens that is attached will utilize it. Adhe if IS is available only on Lens then... the moment you replace the lens... you will not have the feature. (as available in Canon XSi kit) Konchem time ivvu.. Rao Garu, Meeru appatlo DSLR beginners ki edo camera sepparu...aa discussion chadivanu..but it was long back.I believe it is Olympus E-410..right? Also..ippudu Olympus E-420 and E-510 vachinayi..510 has got Image Stabilization.. How much of an issue would be Image Stabilization in a DSLR...based on that I would have decide on a E-420 or E-510...please educate me a bit.. |
