Gautam Menon, is undoubtedly one of the most prolific film makers of our generation. His movies are stylish, realistic and most importantly depict real lives of common folks on screen. An expert in making romantic films Gautam’s latest love saga, Yeto Velli Poindhi Manasu released to mixed reviews last week. 123telugu caught up with this talented film maker and spoke at length about the film and his future projects. Here is the transcript of the interview. 1. How is the response of your movie? Ans: The response has been really good, and I am happy that YVM is a bigger hit in Telugu when compared to the Tamil version. 2. Like all your previous movies, does YVM also have some real life incidents? Ans: Yes! YVM is based on some real incidents which I have closely seen and have also gone through some times. 3. What do you think has really clicked with the audience in YVM Ans: The story line is simple and depicts the life of a couple in three stages. Many people have personally connected to the film and have come out thinking that it is very close to their personal lives. 4. YVM has been received with mixed response. How do you think the movie will sustain in the current scenario? Ans: Frankly, I was very clear about the audience for YVM. I am very happy that my film has exactly catered to the section of audience, for whom the film was made. 5. A word about Nani and Samanta’s performances? Ans: Oh! they have done an amazing job in the film. I have become a big fan of Nani after YVM. He has given an extraordinary performance and more than what i expected from him. Coming to Samanta, she had a meaty role which she carried off with a lot of ease. She is a director’s actress and has given a mature performance. 6. What about your upcoming projects ? Ans: The Hindi version of YVM is 50% complete, and my action entertainer with Surya will start early next year. 7. Coming to the latest trend of multi starrers, which two heroes you would cast if you had to make one? Ans: Laughs! I would cast Nani and Allu Arjun in the lead, and it would be a triangular love story with a dose of action in it. 8. There were some reports of you collaborating with Mahesh Babu. Any updates on that venture? Ans: Actually, its too early to talk about it. I have narrated a few lines to Mahesh but nothing has been finalized as of yet. 9. Your favorite actor and director in Tollywood? Ans: Oh! Undoubtedly it has to be Mahesh Babu and S S Rajamouli. 10. Finally any message for our 123telugu readers?
