What a joke. Ponting is not performing for more than 2 years now (except india series @home). He averages 34 in the last 2 years compared to 50+ career average. Whereas Tendulkar averages 53 in the last 2 years and his career average is 54. Bottom line, Australian selectors asking ponting to retire immediately after his performance went down is a myth. They let him play with below avg. performance for 2 years because team needed a senior player like him as most of the other seniors retired.
