http://solarpowerauthority.com/how-much-does-it-cost-to-inst all-solar-on-an-average-us-house/

In the USA, a rule of thumb is that the average house consumes electricity at the rate of 1 kW per hour (kWh). There are about 730 hours in each month, and the average price of a kWh of electricity is $0.10. So an average monthly bill would be around $73 for 730 kWh of electricity.

The cost of a solar panel today is around $3 per watt, and the extra cost of installation brings costs up to $5- $6 per watt.

1MW solar plant will produce 1000 units per hour--which means govt pays the plant RS 1000*16 per hour...but govt only collects Rs1000*4 per hour from consumer like you and me...you can easily do the math...

solar power is not the only avaliablity , it is just an add on so on the average if govt sells 100 units of powers, say 90 conventional + 10 solar , on the whole they will be in good position

As the techonlogy improves, so will the utilization of the solar powers; In the macro level this is much better than giving power for free ..

solar power is better than wind power...wind poer has a lot of problems including noise from the turbines, the fine dust emrging from the rotation of the blades and there is always this ecological problem with bird migration and etc etc...solar on the other hand can be started even with one solar panel to charge a single bulb...

india economic independence is wholly dependent on energy.....major part of our expenditure on imports goes for energy......why country is desperate for foreign investments, mostly to buy energy....if we have to be really independent we need to achieve energy security and solar is the gateway for that along with wind, biomass...there is no other way......i am not sure whether you are referring to solar cell assembly of fabrication.....AFAIK india has almost no presence in any kind of silicon fabrication.......The cost of solar cells came down in the last few years.... if we begin now, we can have some presence in this area in few years......we even import coal for electricity....so, solar is critical for us....we have to make it viable at some point, modi's approach a good begining...gujarat cells solar power mixing with power form other sources to average costs....at this point it doesn't make much difference on cost, but country gets some footprint in this critical area

agree to this ..

btw .. thermal power tho each unit is costing 6 rs .. while solar power has come down to 8.5 rs ..

second by constructing more thermal plants which are cheaper...

annai .. India lo ippatike 60% power is produced from thermal .. and aa plants ki coal sourcing entha kastam avutondo idea unda? we are importing coal from Australia .. and paying premium price for that .. also now there is opposition in Australia to export coal to India saying we are depleting their coal reserves .. so some key NTPCs are operating with just 1 week coal reserves .. the situation does not make it feasible to invest more in thermal power .. and hence looking towards the next better source of power since we have abundance of sunlight and wind (keeping future in view also) ..

will welcome u ripping off this argument ..

solar power enduku developemnt to equate chestunnaarante(this is grossly incorrect) india lo... electricity shortage undi kaabatti...electricity shortage ni muudu vidhaalugaa puudhcochchu...okati, janaalaki current ivvakapodam, ledu kaabattii...second by constructing more thermal plants which are cheaper...third by opting for four fold more expensive solar plants...building expensive solar plants is not the solution at this point...because for every unit you produce your loss is atleast Rs 8...The need of the hour is more research on solar panels...thin film solar appeared to be in right direction, it lost steam...till the solar world(most research is going on in bayarea) comes up with a break through on how to cut down panel/thin film costs...there is no hope for solar...

If you build a 1MW solar plant in India today, your ROI will be about 7 years, assuming your purchase agreement is not modified any time in between the term expiration, a term typically is 5 years I guess...but at your expense Govt(center or state) will lose money to the same tune...
