Activists of Samaikyandhra (united Andhra) on Friday stalled a meeting of Separate Andhra protagonists at Nandigama in Krishna district, leading to a tense atmosphere for quite some time. The meeting was to be organized by former home minister and Jai Andhra leader Vasantha Nageshwara Rao to propagate the theory that the Coastal Andhra region would prosper only if the state is bifurcated. However, even before Vasantha reached the meeting spot, the Samaikyandhra activists attacked the place and created a ruckus. The police arrested Vasantha and obstructed hundreds of people coming to the meeting. Later, the former minister alleged that the police had played spoil sport with the meeting at the behest of Vijayawada Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, who he alleged had vested interests in Telangana.
