Elca Kurrodi Post in Pakka DB: hemmingway said "what is moral is what you feel good after and what is immoral is what you feel bad after" . Obviously this is a very realistic and practical and profound definition of morality from a man with flexible conscience. But If we think rationally and with a clear conscience and then define morality "morality lies in avoiding doing things that will harm or create discomfort a living thing directly or indirectly" . It can range from stabbing an innocent person directly in their heart to buying an underwear in walmart which is made by a 10 year old in china. So now my fellow db ers lets evaluate where we stand...since most of us dont have guts to kill someone lets evaluate where we stand on other issues 1) Eating Non veg... no matter how we answer to ourseves that animals don't feel that much pain , they r created as a food chain to feed our hunger , the nervous system of a fish is so underdeveloped its pain lasts for a second when its killed etc etc etc , eating meat in any form is we directly contributing to the demand for the flesh of that animal and thus encouraging to kill that animal. So we the non vegetarians dont have morals ... agree or not 2) Working for bad companies No matter how family frenly they appear in the ads we see on tv, we all know most of these big companies indulge in acts that mostly effect the lives of people in 3rd world countries the torture ranging from using them lab rats for new medicines , or slave driving the workers to increase the profits to contributing war and genocides . So when u take up a job even a contract position do u do any background check on the companies operations? 3)Buying blood and sweat Products these range from things as direct as buying a belt made of an animal leather to purchasing an iphone which is made from a blood metal. Blood dimaonds , blood chocolates , Blood iphones etc etc etc...if you see the movie blood diamong u know what iam talking about. basically and mostly in africa from where the raw material for these products come from you have mafias that employ kids , drug them and use them as slaves to carry out their operations so by buying such products we r hurting those kids. and there are many more...paying taxes to a country that uses the tax money to wage wars that resultes in deaths , voting for a leader who is corrupt tyrant , etc etc etc... Now in a competitive world where we have to deal with responsibilities and deadlines and pleasures etc etc etc we do most of the stuff in ignorance and some knowingly. I wonder if there is any person in this world who can proudly says he leads a life where it doesn't harm anyone directly or indirectly. Can anyone live like that? If no one can live like that then do we have the right to judge a murderer or a thief or a crook etc etc etc. U know life is soooo crazy if u think about it |
