i hate going to tirupati. gudiki prashantata kosam veltam. tirupati lo adugu pettina kshanam nunchi adokkate korata ga untadi. devudni kuuda chuudaniyyaru. ticket dorakavu. bhojanam ibbandi. cottages dorakavu. prati chota lancham swairaviharam chesta untadi. the last time i went is in 2008 and antaka mundu 1993 or 1994(chelli kesha kandana ki). na antata nenu malli vellanu kuuda unless there is an occasion. with all due respect to your beliefs and sensibilities, bhayya... manam tirumala ki velledi facilities kosam kaadu... the prime aim is to have Darshan of the Lord. For doing so, if TTD is providing us additional facilities, then they are good to have. I know chinna pillalu and family tho kastam, still, the facilities that we have now are lot lot better.... imagine, Tirumala's infra can handle anywhere b/w 50k to 75k devotees /day but it gets 80k to 100k devotees.... I had a very plesant Darshan in Tirumala recently 1. Got down at Tirupathi train station at 5.45 from kkd with 2 kids 2. I came to know that TTD had built a excellent facility opposite to Train and Bus station called Hari Nilayam, to stay , which is very good it seems. 3. we took a room opp station got refreshed and reached tirumala by 10 AM 4. went to CRO and got stay at VarahaSwami which is very comfortable 5. Had to wait 2 hrs to tonsure my child's head at Guesthouse, gave him 100 6. Went to JEO office to confirm the break darshan for evening and next early morning 7. There are excellent tiffin centers next to varaha swami which are catering people, that are hygenic 8. got SMS from JEO office to buy tickets at 4 in the evening 9. got the tickets and visited Varahaswami temple first 10. Had a great darshan with 300 people only at 8 pm 11. came back and had a free meal at Penugonda Venga mamba Anna Dana Kendram. which is very refreshing 12. spent some time opp to temple and slept 13. next morning i went alone for morning break which is soul stirring 14. wound up everything by 9.30 , and took a taxi for down hill + kani pakam + mangapuram and drop and station for 1600. 15. Driver was very good and he dropped us back at station, to finish the nice journey ############################################ 1. Anna Danam is almoist walk in now between 9-2, 6-11 in 3 centers over tirumala 2. Laddu center is centrealized and TTD is also selling laddus 3. Anna danam is koora, pachadi, rice (2-3 times) , sambar, rasam, nimmakaya majjiga 4. we can use the TTD new built centers opp to bus and railway station after getting down 5. we have to pull out all carry on luggage to go thru scanner at alipiri, before going up , what ever may be the mode of transport 6. People started climbing thru old route 'Sri vari mettu" for which TTD made good arrangements | ||

In fact i find some of these small temples in remote villages and towns very peaceful. Serviced by one old priest, one goat or dog running around, people playing cards on the temple platform, they are a part of the social fabric rather than something to wonder at.. | ||

nenu feel kaledu thammudu, nenu vellaledu ga I am happy. She is happy with her fulfillment of mokku. She just told me that relatively chilukuru temple is more peaceful. This is not first time, she had been to thirumala at least 5times but now a days rush is too much and it's not possible to have satisfactory darshan I guess in that crowd. Regarding Gundu i agree ..... as per my experience people offering hair were not these many ever ....i can tell because i go regularily......even in places where it is restricted for the residents .....crowds are heavy..... Vishnupadam guy sold tickets only that much which they can handle in one shift...I took the tickets went to my room.....and went close to 12.00 pm when the shift ends for first set of barbers....i got it done in 15 min waiting. But as you said he was not satisfied with 50.....i gave 100 he took but not satisfied and murmuring.....i didnt care. Two things i noticed people walking the steps and offering hair are now much more than it used to be earlier.... | ||

My wife went to thirumala in the last week of July, her brother and my mother tagged along. Everything is pre-arranged from hyderabad. She walked up 7hills to fulfill her mokku. Hyderabad to renigunta morning flight, car from airport to thirumala (she got off at alipiri to walk up), evening breakdarshan, next morning some seva or kalyanam, after-noon return flight to hyderabad. They stayed in a decent guesthouse, rs.3k per night. After spending about rs.30k, she told me that chilukuru venkanna temple is much more peaceful for her. But for mokku she would never go back. I normally don't argue with believers even though i am an atheist but I felt that 30k would have helped some poor kid for a year of education at least. | ||

recently oka north indian first time tirupathi elladu .....i helped him with accomodation and darshan tickets....he was extremely happy and mentioned that this is the best temple/place that i visited in my life.......he was very impressed with how it is maintained. | ||

Panchajanyam lo water problem ledu. Yesterday after returning only i read in the papers that there is a severe water crisis. Rooms are neat and well maintained. The location is not convenient though for restaurants and overall feel of the place. It is not peaceful say like Narayanagiri which though it was only Rs150, i found quite nice. Jatayu - i think even Kausthubham is the Rs500 category. Last time Panchajanyam was Rs300, i booked Rs500 hoping for a different category. I think they increased the prices. For lunch and dinner, we had to go all the way to Annamayya in Padmavathi nagar. | ||

My Tirumala Darshan Just posting this thread so that it might be of use to the others on this DB and also to thank those who have given their suggestions earlier. By the way, my alternate title for this thread is Mangalodi darshan, read on for more juicy details. I landed in Tirumala after a largely sleepless night on the Bangalore – Tirupati train and a bus journey uphill which was fairly okay barring some disruption at Alipiri where all of us had disembark for getting the luggage scanned. As we were sitting in the last rows, you can imagine the pain in getting the luggage out again (we had some heavy suitcases) getting it scanned and again board. Not sure why they can’t have a setup near the bus stand itself. After we reached Tirumala, we took a taxi to the Padmavathinagar booking office as internet bookings used to be handled there. There was a notice on the board there that the office was shifted to Gumble guest house. When we went there, they said that internet booking is now handled at CRO, opposite the bus stand. I can’t fathom why the loonies in charge can’t write this on the internet receipt. Again took a taxi to CRO. The driver was quite helpful and nice. He also told us that seva tickets might be available in the current booking office opposite CRO and that will be better than the Rs300 sheeghra darshan. We took Deepalankarana Seva tickets for the evening at Rs200 per ticket (I think even Jodha had suggested this earlier). For our Rs500 bookings, we got in Panchajanyam where we had stayed earlier too. It is a mess of a location though close to the bus stand. My favourite will always be Narayanagiri. Anyway, so after breakfast I decided to get my kid’s head shaved. When I went down to the basement of Panchajanyam there was a long queue, the counter was closed. I waited there for an hour and half. It was like waiting for a first day movie release. All my Mumbai local train taking and Kshana Kshanam – Devi Theatre ticket taking skills came to nought. Musala muthaka kooda nannu pasi vadini chesi, line cut chesi venakki thosesaru. The place was a war zone – arupulu, pedabobbalu, arthanadalu – all this for the tickets. After taking the tickets, another one hour for getting the head shaved. Lopala adi oka narakam, oka mangalodu cheyanu antadu, okadu emanna shift ayyindi antadu. Janalu kottesukuntonnaru.. chee anukunna. After my kid’s head was shaved, the barber asked for some dakshina … thala neelalu…. thochinantha etc etc. I had only Rs500 notes and one Rs50 note. I gave him Rs50. Vadu hurt ayyadu. Meere unchukondi annadu. I asked him how much I should give…he kept asking me to keep my money. Intha bathuku bathiki, 3 hours wait chesi, veedi patronizing thagaleyya anukoni naa Rs50 jebu lo pettukoni vochchesa. I shave my head every week, I should have done the same thing for my kid. I hope he did not show his anger on the next head !!! Next confusion is the Deepalankarana seva at 5 pm. The tickets said dress code – sarees, panche, pai pancha etc. I asked around, even at the information counter nobody gave a correct answer. Enduku le risk anukoni, market velli bought a panche and pai panche. Theera temple ki velthe location change chesaru rain ani. Akkada hall ki velthe andaru salwar kameezes, pants, shirts, lo chaddilu, jabbala banians esukochcharu. Malli debbbayipoya…. Anyway darshanam got over in 45 minutes, very smoothly. Next day as usual got a taxi and went down to Srinivasa Mangapuram and Alivelu Mangapuram. Both places were unusually crowded probably because of Shravana Masam. Key takeaways for future visitors • Internet booking is opposite the bus stand at the CRO • Opposite the CRO, go to the current booking counter and try for the Deepalankarana Seva. Tickets are usually available till around 9 am. Easiest darshan • If possible take the Rs750 and above tickets, Rs500 will be in Panchajanyam which is a hell hole for its barber facilities and absence of good restaurants nearby • Take cover for laddus along with you. Otherwise you will have to stand in queue for the cover • Most important rule – forget all the above rules. They keep changing the procedures every month. Reboot every time you go. |
