Sakshi's Frozen Money Is Rs 113 Crore The total amount of money available in the bank accounts of Sakshi daily and television channel as frozen by the Central Bureau of Investigation is around Rs 113 crore. This was revealed in the petition filed by Sakshi management in the special CBI court seeking de-freezing of the bank accounts. According to the petition, the amount held by Sakshi paper in the current account of State Bank of India is Rs 8 crore and in Oriental Bank of Commerce is Rs 65 lakh. Similarly, the amount held by Sakshi television channel in the SBI is Rs 28 lakh and in the OBC is Rs 91 lakh. Besides, the Sakshi group has fixed deposits of Rs 103 crore in the SBI. The management brought to the notice of the court that the monthly expenditure of Sakshi channel which has 1,000 employees, is around Rs 3 crore, of which Rs 1.60 crore goes only to salaries. Similarly, the monthly expenditure for Sakshi daily is Rs 35 crore, of which Rs 8 crore is spent on the salaries of the staff. The Sakshi management assured the court that it would not transfer any amount from or into these accounts till the CBI case is closed. 'It is the question of survival of 20,000 employees directly or indirectly depending on Sakshi. So, we request the court to defreeze the bank accounts for the smooth running of the media houses,' the management said in its petition.
