they were expecting 30Mil IPhones. but were betting it will be 28.5 mil. so they shorted heavily. they came up with 35Mil. The most optimistic estimate is 32Mil. They beat it with 10%. This is staggering. just look at the absolute numbers. 35 million phones in 3 months. this quarter is very imp for apple in many ways. kudos to them for pulling it off so classy. this morning there were a couple of obituaries for apple! just dont trust the analysts any more. except three guys- Bernstein, Munster and Wu. All others, do not trust. At&T and Verizon were either lying or the iPhone market moved overseas. I hope the latter is correct. last quarter insts got heavily into AAPL pushed to 640, then they shorted heavily made big bucks, then they spread negative rumors to push it further and they all must have got in last two days.
