buy a certificate with company A's and have it installed on Company B's servers. It looks like company B is providing a temporary cert for you.

Talk to the hosting company B about this and get advise.

Funny:

If you feel you have 10 or more websites having same parent domain like exdomain.com, then you can generate cert on wild character like *.exdomain.com.

Biriyani:

if 3 web applciations are installed on that server....doeas each applcaition should have its own certicate?

yes. each domain name shud have its own cert generated.

You cannot have two certs generated and install for same domain.

You cannot server same cert for different domains.
Take it easy

Biriyani:

say if the app url is "healthapplication.exdomain.com"..then company A has to purchase the certificate on "exdomain.com"

nope, it shud be FQDN.

they have to generate cert on healthapplication.exdomain.com. As users will be querying healthapplication.exdomain.com.

Funny:

If Comapny A generates certificate on www.example.com and hosted on Comapnys B server no problem.

Jaankayalu_chips:

But the domain name in Certificate should match the host name used. only then browsers will accept it

Biriyani:

Is it possible to implement in this way- > company A purchases the SSL certificate on its name...and company B installing it on its server...so that we see company A certificate when we access the pplciation hosted on tht server

Yes should be possible

Company A will provide certificate-private key to B and they have to load it in their server for that port.

But the domain name in Certificate should match the host name used. only then browsers will accept it

example. the website adddress should be companyA.com

SSL cert will be created based on DOMAIN. If Comapny A generates certificate on www.example.com and hosted on Comapnys B server no problem. as it doesnt matter who bought the certificate and where it is hosted.

Jaankayalu_chips:

anyways...
if company B is hosting the application, they are the SSL server, and you are the SSL client. So, obviously you will be using B's certificate.

just got off the phone...here is the what they are asking
