con, their yield may be alright because their price went down so much. if they give 10% but lose 20% in price, it wont work well. In such a scenario, floating-rate corporate debt with short maturities will be a smart place to have capital positioned. Not only are investors getting a very attractive yield in the corporate debt market, but theyâre also removing the risk of principal erosion if rates push higher. Nuveen Floating Rate Income Opportunity Fund (NYSE:JRO), Yield 7%: Itâs so nice when a sector just doesnât run away from you and offers several opportunities for new money to get involved. Such is the case for floating-rate corporate debt. Balance sheets are strengthening as the economy improves, and investors get interest tied to the one-month London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR) that currently stands at 0.24%. This sector is set to be a huge winner in the next year. New York Community Bancorp (NYSE:NYB), Yield 7%: While missing estimates by a penny, the companyâs nonperforming loan portfolio fell by 37%, a huge improvement in its asset base. NYB lets investors collect the highest dividend yield available among all major bank stocks. The recent good news from the labor and housing markets is major positive for future demand for lending, and itâs why weâre seeing the sector rally. PPL (NYSE:PPL), Yield 5%: Despite putting the smack down to earnings estimates in the latest quarter, besting estimates by 12.90%, shares of PPL have been hit as a source of funds for more risk-on assets by fund managers. The stock now trades roughly 10% off its 52-week highs, presenting an opportunity for those seeking a utility holding that is hitting on all cylinders. Verizon (NYSE:VZ), Yield 5%: After pulling back two points from its 52-week high following a slight earnings miss due to Apple royalties, VZ shares have found some love at the $38 level. Couple of weeks ago, I sent Con brother an email explaining the systemic risk still in the market for financials, but we have only seen 3bn CDS triggered as part of Greek debt deal. On the other hand, Spain & Portugal can follow. You never know. So yes, you are very much right, go for regional banks,small-mid cap financials. | ||

my startegy here is i don't want to buy stock at this stage... main reason for that is market is overbought.... i don't want to buy ny stock at these levels... april quarter results kanna mundhu... market correction vuntundhi ani guessing... as of now.... there is no as such big catalyst to go down.... you never know... europe problems are still there... in addition to it... hig gas prices... people are coming out of bonds... at least in the short term... atleast 5 to 10% market correction definate ga vundavacchu.... just my thought.... all opinions expressed here are mine.. | ||

You have to understand, how VXX works? I know that VIX is at 5yr lows, but what news are we expecting to see any major moves in the market? On the other hand,should there be no movement in the VIX, the contango effect will kill any Short Term Futures ETN. You may very well know that VXX trades on short term futures, where in Front Futures have to be rolled over every month and the cost of rollover is bundled into the price. Even if there is a marginal surge, the spike has to remain for a while to see any major movement in the price of the ETF.Your Covered positions may help you finance your position, but VXX may loose value as time goes on and if VIX remains flat. I am not asking you to sell, but want to know your strategy/bet. | ||

the reason why JVA went up 75% is that coffee prices are trending low on excellent crop and also string usd. this should help SBUX and FARM as well. nothing much AMRN ripping. mkt cap now at 1.03 Bn it seems it takes anywhere from 1.5Bn to 12Bn to create a new drug. if Amarin can get all approvals and around 1.3Bn mkt cap, anyone will buy it for about 4Bn. Its drug is supposed to have a potential of 1Bn/Yr. key is to get all approvals.
