1. Pushkara lift irrigation scheme Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on March 14th 2008 dedicated to the nation the first phase of the Thota Venkatachalam Pushkara lift irrigation scheme near Purushothapatnam village in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Ms Gandhi, switched on the motors, thereby releasing water to 80,000 acres, and unveiled a pylon. 2. Devadula project: The first phase of India’s biggest lift irrigation project, Devadula, became operational on March 14th 2008. Sonia Gandhi unveiled a pylon and switched on the pump house, Ms. Gandhi expressed amazement at the magnitude and size of the Rs. 3,500-crore project after seeing the huge pipelines that originate at the intake structure and disappear into Eturu Nagaram forests on way to Dharmasagar, 135 kms away. 3. Ali Sagar Lift Irrigation project: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy dedicated the Ali Sagar Lift Irrigation Scheme on November 4th 2007. This long-pending dream project of Nizamabad district will immediately provide irrigation to 54,000 acres in Navipet, Ramzal, Edpalli, Nizamabad, Dichpalli and Maklur mandals, and cater to the drinking water needs of 89 villages. As against its estimated cost of Rs. 226 crore, the Government has spent Rs. 214 crore so far to give Alisagar its present shape with a massive pump house at Kosli that lifts 3 tmcft of water from the Godavari and pipeline networks to ensure supplies to the fields. 4. Tadipudi Lift Irrigation Scheme Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy dedicated the Tadipudi Lift Scheme on October 25th 2007. With this, the water-starved lands in the upland parts, falling under 14 mandals in West Godavari district, are all set to receive the much sought-after Godavari water. Besides, the river water is also set to quench the thirst of people from several upland villages. 5.Brahmamsagar Reservoir UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi released water from the left and right sluices of Brahmamsagar reservoir on Wednesday September 27th 2006 under Telugu Ganga project to irrigate an ayacut of 50,000 acres on Wednesday, bringing joy to ayacutdars of Mydukur constituency who waited for over 23 years for their dream to come true. 6. Alimineti Madhava Reddy Project Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy released water from the Alimineti Madhava Reddy canal (AMR-Srisailam Left Bank canal) to irrigate 50,000 acres in Nalgonda district on September 26, 2006. 7. Surampalem Reservoir Project The Surampalem Reservoir Project in Gangavaram mandal of the East Godavari Agency area is dedicated to the State by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on September 11th 2006. Constructed across Burada kalava -- a hill stream, the project is designed to provide irrigation facilities to 15,482 acres located in 9 tribal villages of Gangavaram mandal and 10 villages in drought-prone upland mandals of Gokavaram, Korukonda and Rajanagaram and drinking water to the population residing in the 19 villages en route the alignment of the main canal. 8. Pedderu medium irrigation project Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on September 10th, 2006 released water from the Pedderu medium irrigation project for irrigating 13,334 acres near Ravipalem, about 85 km from Visakhapatnam 9. Jhanjhavathi Project The first benefit of Jala Yagnam is reaped by Vijayanagaram District, completed the Jhanjhavathi Project before the targeted date this was pending for last 3 decades. From 1st January this year, Irrigation water is being provided to an extent of 9,000 acres in 5 Mandals in Vijayanagarm District. 10. Swarnamuki Project; The project is a dream of the people of upland nellore districts of kota, vakadu for the past 50 yrs...
