this method can be used as an one time payment settlement. but I don't think we can make this method as a regular monetary exchange between them and us. because after receiving gold from india, Iran will have to sell it in international market. they are not going to eat it or keep it. gold is precious only when it is scarce. once you release tons of gold into international market, its value will plummet. there after, ultimately India will have to pay more gold then the equal value it received as oil. domino effects will screw us from behind. | ||

Once we clear our external debts and get our oil with bilateral negotiations in exchange for other goods and services then india can stand on its own with minimum requirement for foreign fiat money....we dan't have to crave for foreign investments unless they bring some technological advantage...this strategic move will help india a lot in the long term | ||
