What I am doing is actually nothing compared to a guy who works out pretty much at the same time as I am. He is in 40's and his avg. speed is 6+ MPH in random mode at level 20.

Age 31, heart rate is in 160's after 5 - 10 mins and stays there till I hit cool down button/mode after 40 mins.

Goal: Burn as many calories as possible

Treadmill - 10 mins run @ 6MPH and 20 mins walk --> 320 cals

next depending on ur goal u can alternate time periods between zones 3 and 4
zone 5 is usually very high heart bpm..for a 30 yrs old more than 155 bpm
recommendation is to spend a quick min or two and go back to zones 3/4

when i started running after a long lay off
i could run at 4.5 mph avg speed for 20 mins
now it is closer to 6 ...just becoz i am watching my cardio zones

as u progress, doing cardio and weight training builds muscle to take place of your fat

if u r still worried about calories cnt..some info from what i read long long back
even doing household chores like dish washing, baby sitting...u will spend around 50-100 cals per hr
so imagine what is cnt when u lift wts

when u train with wts, u expend a lot of energy (burning cals) to lift, push, pull etc

incl of treadmill, elliptical and cycling.
