Okatelugodu, I know how people can be influenced by constant onslaught of views from their group. Even when that person is not like that to begin with. It is natural people get influenced by surrondings. My bottomline is, it is always better to help anyone than HATING whole group of people. Regarding a person always helping his/her own caste people at the expense of well deserving candidate from other caste, IT IS BAD, but it is an INDIVISUAL who is A BAD apple from that GROUP. Again there will be GOOD and BAD people in every group, region, religion, country. | ||

There is more to it that I have notieced since I came to US. It's not just about personal experience but external influences also equally provoke hate. I have seen this myself. For instance, I have known a guy since I was in inter. Then we went to same engineering college. Good for us, we only had to deal with regional issues. Caste played no part in our college lives. We used to be a big group of friends, ready to help each other. Caste didn't appear on our radars and my group of friends had guys from allmost all areas through out AP. So it was good diverse mix. Obviously along the line you find castes of some guys, when a friends shows a social welfare hostel with a caste name written on and says - "Rey, that is our Perika hostel. My dad lived there when he studied". Some of them I dont know their caste nor do I care anymore. That was the background. Coming back to the guy I started about. I always admired how intelligent he was. He was very naive and intelligent at the same time. Alway friendly. After coming to US, when we first met here in US, we have already been in the countrty for 3,4 years but were in diferent states. So didn't get to meet him. When I met him after 4 years. I have noticed a stark contract in the topics that interest him. Initially, when I am around within the 30 minutes of conversation, he liked to bring Ramoji Rao and point out what a cheat he is..and then next minute topic drifts to what a whore Renuka Chowdary is..then the next topic is BalaKrishna, Kodela, Paritala, Mohanbabu and the list was endless. I must admit, I really thought at time, that I have a caste feeling. If I dind't may be I wouldn't have tried to connect the dots when these names were being thrown at me. But it couldn't explain it to myself anyother way because there were too many names with in such a short period and initially everytime the topics were same. It can't be a mere coincidence. Because there is no scarcity of known personalities in other communities. I used to feel insulted. It could've just taken me one minute to argue back but I became more interested in the cause for such a drastic change. After few weeks when I looked at the people he aquainted with at work and on weekends, these guys talked the same and unfortunately my friend got sucked in. It seemed to me that most of this hate seemed to be originating from Vijayawada in particular. Obviously it didn't take him long to figure out that may be he was being unreasonable. And thankfully thinks got better later on... My but the bottomline is: one can't really help getting influenced when websites like greatandhra writes "Kamma lobby is doing this" or when vartha publishes "Kaapu Keratam" when a clean person wants to enter politics. Hatred spreads and mutliplies faster, whether it is caste based or religion based. Anyday like Gsn said, I feel it is lot better to like your family, neighbors, friends, caste, region or religion that hate. Doing that you are helping someone rather than causing greid and trouble spreading hatred or hating someone. At the same time vere caste ani talend vunnollani eppuduu anyayam cheyyaddu. One day soon I will be dead. People will look back at my life, and they might say I was a martial artist; for I have earned a seventh dan black belt (in both karate and judo). They might say I was a musician; for I have composed successful operas (in three different languages). They might say I was a footballer; for I used to represent Italy (and scored twenty-seven goals for my country during my career). But above all, they will say, he was a great philosopher. The difference between a hobby and greatness is total immersion, to the sacrifice of all else. I must devote my entire life to this pursuit; I must give up absolutely everything for this cause. I assumed that giving up my material wealth would be the easiest part of this quest, but it is proving not to be straightforward. Yesterday, I hired a removal van and packed it with all of my possessions, leaving my house utterly bare. I drove out to the public common and unpacked the van there, laying every item out upon the grass. I labelled my bank cards with the relevant pin numbers. I labelled my bicycle lock with its code. I labelled my house keys with their address, and my car keys with instructions to find the car. I abandoned the rented van, for liabilities are also proprietary. Finally, I stripped the clothes off my back and folded them into a neat pile. And I walked away. It was late by then, and cold. I decided to forestall the next part of my mission until the morning. So I wandered the streets, looking for a warm place to sleep for a few hours. No haven was forthcoming. The few warm corners I did find were barred to me by people that I suppose took issue with my nakedness. I ended up walking aimlessly all night, to keep from freezing. As the sun rose and the pre-dawn chill passed, I found myself approaching the common again - my subconscious mind had guided me in a large circle back to where I started. The soft, dewy grass soothed my aching feet. I walked up to the pile of my belongings. There were a few people staring at it as they passed, mostly early morning joggers and peripatetic tramps. To my surprise, not a single item was missing. Ashamed as I am to admit it, my first reaction was to feel hurt that nobody had valued my possessions enough to claim them; but of course I did not indulge my misplaced pride. This is my opinion about this topic: How a person likes another person: GENERALLY Either he/she must be his/her family member --> relative THEN --> Neighbour --> same town --> same district --> same state OR --> same language --> same religion --> same country OR --> same color --> same humanbeing etc., In every country in the world the above is true, where as in India there are more dimensions for the above CASTE. Generally how do you like your caste? Begining from one's childhood, one interacts more with their relatives and neighbours (generally these people will be from your own caste), so slowly you develop liking to your own people, in this case your own CASTE people. So I don't see anything WRONG with liking your OWN PEOPLE. Whereas HATING a particular CASTE or COMMUNITY doesn't follow the same logic as above. YOU HATE ANYONE based on your own experience either the other person must have caused damage to you either physically, emotionally or financially. If you HATE ANYONE because of the above statement, there is nothing wrong a 99% of the human population HATES someone. We are humanbeings and it is our nature to HATE someone based on personal reasons. The other 1% belong to special category and they are MAHAN people eg. Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Theressa etc., But, I fail to understand how anyone can HATE WHOLE CASTE or COMMUNITY. EVERY CASTE and COMMUNITY WOULD HAVE GOOD PEOPLE AND BAD PEOPLE. PERIOD. BASED on the above argument, I beleive LOVING YOUR CASTE IS BETTER THAN HATING OTHER CASTEs anyday, anytime, anyplace. By loving your own caste, you are only helping SOMEONE.
