Multiple reasons. Number 1 being Congress doesnt want any leader to rise above the party level. Number 2, Gowdas doesnt feel SM Krishna as Numero Uno leader. For them Deve Gowda is torch bearer. trye story- a guy from US was visiting Hyd to scout the locations. Poor guy, he got down from a taxi in dark and stepped into a hole in the road and broke his ankle. he had to admit into a hospital. Those days Apollo Hyd was not there yet. He was shunted from hospital to hospital because noone knew how to process his medical insurance. he suffered pain for 24 hours before he had to goto Mumbai. Guys, you do not know how it was like doing business in Hyd before 1995. | ||

Hyd had no chance on its merits. Satyam was a good start, but extremely poor infra. Pardon me, but our Telugu guys those days were so unprofessional in every single way, and generally, all non-telugu guys used to literally cry those days, that they get cheated by every one in Hyd. Very rude people in general. But the trend has changed when MS started an office. Also, compared to BLR and Chennai, the rents were cheap, so all companies started setting up Customer Support and Service. It's the affluence of AP that attracted them, they came grudgingly. Hyd was big region for IT because of enormous orders they used to get from DRDL, BHEL, HAL, MIDHANI, HMT etc. | ||

The no#1 reason BLR became the focal point of IT was its weather, people and public sector. DRDL, NAL and HAL were big IT clients. The first guys to start IT in a big way were Dr Paul Raj, and Sam Pitroda, both brought from US by Rajiiv to start CDAC and CDOT respectively. CDAC started in MG Road, and CDOT started off Cunningham Rd. Just about the same time, Premji started Wipro, because he already had a factory in Mysore. So he started manufacturing in Mysore and Software in BLR. INFY was not there yet. Those guys were still working somewhere. At that time, they did not get 8 hours of power. They used to have diesel gens from 8-10 and 2-4 every day. Then TI came, HP was 2nd. Then Digital came, which merged with Compaq. Then TVS came. Then ANZ Bank came. All these were in Cunningham Road. You know why> HP already oiled skids so that the Cunningham area will get uninterrupted power and telephones. | ||

The only IT companies at that time in Hyd were CMC Hyd and OMC. OMC got into loss and closed down. Then Vision Labs came, not too successful. All this was when NTR and NJR etal. Then CBN came, and there was a big rush. The first to get off the ground was Wipro Hyd, then HCL Hyd, TCS, Satyam, Infy etc. If you blame him for not getting rains during the time, you have to give him credit for the good things happened during his time also right? | ||
