The Congress party has gone completely on the defensive with the Jan Chetana Yatra of veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani in the Telangana region. In fact, the Congress was not very much concerned about Advani's yatra in other states, but what caused worry to the party is that the BJP leader had chosen only the Telangana region for his yatra. And all through his yatra in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Medak and Ranga Reddy districts, Advani has focused only on the Telangana issue, though the purpose of his yatra is to educate the people against corruption. Naturally, it has caused a lot of embarrassment to the Congress party, which is not in a position to take any decision on the Telangana statehood issue, while Advani has been saying clearly that the BJP would grant separate statehood to the region if NDA comes to power. The Congress leadership is trying to turn the tables on Advani to save its face. 'Why didn't the BJP grant separate Telangana when the NDA was in power? Now, Advani is trying to instigate the people by raising the Telangana issue.
