yeah, AI lost  but her game is at a much better place today than it was a year ago. i like bartoli's game. very funny and very weird and can be very dangerous when she's on. (ask justine!) too bad clijsters is injured, caro has been playing some good game post aussie open. her game is a lot similar to somdev's in that they counterpunch. luckily the wta is more forgiving than the atp. caro VS azarenka should be a very fun match. azarenka is a shot-maker and caro will try to make her hit one shot too many. i am glad maria is getting her game back. she is such a fighter, i would love to see her hit peak form during wimbledon/usopen or even french open, the only slam she is missing. talking of wta - the fed-harrison match has become a chokefest like a lot of matches on wta! 4 consecutive breaks to get to a tie-break. ryan harrison has a smooth flowing game and his serving is top notch for a 18yr old. fed has no business playing a tie-break, when he should have closed this out twice. when your game starts sliding, your clutch game goes out 1st. fed at his prime would have won this set 6-2 i can't see fed getting past even wawa with this kind of game, forget joker! hell, he needs to put harrison away here. well played kiddo. hope he keeps the american flag flying in tennis and tennis flag flying in america  What the executioner did after he was done with his job. v-man, dev v's game is a miniature version of andy murray or rafael nadal or hewitt's game. all counter punchers who throw in a variety of spins and make you hit one more ball. dev's game is more similar to hewitt in that he doesn't have a killer/finsihing shot like murray (deadly down the line backand) and nadal (that lethal forehand!) he has the court coverage and mental strength of the above mentioned players though and that's his strength. he also doesn't have the height that murray and nadal have (murray is 6 3 and nadal 6 1, somdev = 5 11), which means his serve doesn't give him too many points either. he did serve bigger today than he usually does - atleast that's what the commentators said. all-in-all, dude can make it to top 30 and if he gets some huge slice of luck, maybe sneak into top 10 for a few weeks. great effort from him today. he can pull one off nadal on a faster surface like new york or cincinnati if he can keep his game from dropping off. First serve was one of the culprit for nadal's worst performance.. On the ladies side, frodo - your babe lost.. yankovic ni kotti, bartoli tho poyindi.. papam.. Clisters unte baagundedi.. even more interesting is that fact that, if nadal gets through this, he will face karlovic - a guy who is that diametrical opposite of somdev. he will bombing serves and blasting forehands. nadal will have more than enough pace to work with in that match. next match, fed against ryan harrison - america's next hope after a-rod. a-rod lost to a guy who is talented like fed. will fed lose to a guy who will be carrying the american flag after a-rod. it's the other way round, dev v's best game is killing nadal's game. somdev is giving him no pace to work with. and nadal's making a bucket of errors trying to generate his own power. this is the same reason why murray matches up better against nadal than shot-makers like djokovic/fed. murray is the ultimate guy to take pace off the ball and mix it up. counterpunchers like nadal will always have trouble with such game. shot-makers like fed and djokovic will rip through such games. not the present day fed, but fed at his best! devvarman is giving nadal, some of nadal's own medicine and nadal's not liking it. nadal routinely cuts down on the pace of his serve in critical moments and dev v has followed that plan to the T, today! interesting stuff. @ v-man, berdych played alright, but wawa is playing good right now. berdych's graph has hit the downturn and wawa's has been on the rise since fall of last year. joker has lost 2games in the last 2 matches. he plays gasquet next round. gasquet played well against a-rod, but he will have to play at his very best and maybe even more to even win a set against joker! crazy! nadal's just not liking a qualifier challenging him in a tournament he has won 2 times. he's trying to dictate points but dev v isn't giving him any pace/rythm. 5-6 0-40 = triple set point. that is a tough way to lose the 1st set, which is absolutely critical if dev v had to harbour any hopes of an upset. nevertheless, it is no joke to hang with nadal for an hour. great job devvarman. if he can win more than 3 games in the 2nd set, that would be one heck of an achievement at this stage of somdev's career! very very impressive! saves 2 set points in a 8minute 10th game. dev v played some amazing tennis and covered some serious ground in that game! with a few more inches of height and some more mphs on the serve he would sure be a top 10 guy, this devvarman. he still has a big heart that might get him there sometime. top 30 is definitely a realistic goal. 5-5 30-30 on nadal's serve. he has got to seize it now! watching it on tensports in india. nice hardworking player. he played federer in dubai and put up a decent fight. nadal is slightly off his game. if dev v can find some inspiration and things go his way, he might win a set. to pull this match out, he will have to play the best match of his career. so far so good for dev v!
