Mr Veerappa Moily was also removed as in-charge of AP Congress affairs, as had been expected. The Union health minister, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, has been assigned to AP party affairs instead. Mr Azad is not a newcomer to the State having been in charge of the state party before the crucial Assembly polls in 2004 when the Congress returned to power after a gap of over a decade. He was instrumental in roping in the Telangana Rasthra Samiti for a seat-sharing agreement much against the wishes of the then Congress Legislature Party leader, the late Dr Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy. |
