The Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu has developed cold feet on moving a no-confidence motion against Congress government. After the initial rhetoric that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government should be sent packing, realization has now dawned on TDP leadership that such a course will actually benefit Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy who is waiting in the wings to get the dirty job done by the opposition party. Naidu held hectic consultations with senior party colleagues to weigh the pros and cons of dislodging the government. Only TDP has the required strength in the Assembly to move a no-trust motion. However, the majority view that emerged at the meetings was that it was a trap laid by former Kadapa MP. “We will think of overthrowing this government on our terms and at a time decided by us. We will not dance to other’s tunes,” a senior TDP leader said. In the assessment of TDP, the mid-term elections following the collapse of the government would benefit Jagan in Seemandhra region and TRS in Telangana region. “Why should we take the blame for unseating the government and imposing an election on people when our rivals will walk away with all the glory?” the TDP leader asked. kRUshITHO nAsthee dURbhikSHAM |
