Well said Ignorance is bliss - we close our eyes and live in the denial that none of these things happen in India ... Not reported or recorded does not mean non-existent... Some time back I had posted the child abuse stats in India and the pronpt defense was it happens in the west too - Not you Kamal but there were a host of other DBers that argued that line... So does that make it okay for it to happen in India ? Does that say it is okay to continue status quo in the country... Obviously something needs to be fixed nut that can only happen if people recognise and acknowledge the problem - not brush it away saying someone else is worse than us .. Why is desham even after being seen a model for values when it comes to pre marital sex had the most number of HIVs next to africa? We were sitting on a volcano closing our eyes by not educating people about safe sex as we consider sex as a taboo and once shxt hit the fan in the form of HIV they came to reality.....that we are not so different.... The issue with US is it has very diverse outlook when it comes to sex. There is strong influence of religion in USA. That influence is the roor cause of teen pregnancy as religion advocated against abortion or even use of condom. religion says about abstinance and that is not practical.Usa is bit confused in this aspect. And regarding molesters well desham has its share of child molesters. Mostly these are uncles who r sexually frustrated.But we are not that sensitive to that issue as USA is. India still doesnt have that much awareness about pedophiles. Its like alzeimers in india. No one knows about it and still every old guy in almost every family has it. And then if u look at the teen pregancy in europe it is very less compared to USA even though it advocates free sex. Cause in europe the kids are treated fairly n they do understand the changing harmones in a teen that drives them towards sex and they gove them very good foundation about sex education n safe sex and above all making sure the teens understand whats happening with the changes in their body and have a smooth metamorphosis mentally. So it all depends on providing awareness and proper education to uth so that they wont end up as perverts when they grow up. | ||

Sanman bro - please dont take umbrage, but this kind of posts 'appear' nice and true, but the problem is much deeper and complicated than that. Free liberal sex education is not going to solve the problem. If that so, in US you wouldn't hear the stories sexual abuses and teenage pregnancies everyday. They are countless. If you watch daily news, there is at least one case of teachers having sex with their students etc. Bottom line is these kind of problems have no simple solutions. On other note Our society as a whole needs to be educated more about sex. I got my first sex lesson in Class 10th. Which even my biology teacher did not explain. Read it and learn to draw the diagrams of penis and vagina and cheepindi. I guess age 10-12 is the best time to teach it in schools as a part of curriculum. Also educating about safe sex practice and associated diseases. Coming to eve teasing and heckling, rape, mistreatment of woman. It is when the devil in the minds starts oppressing the humane side. Sanman, good post. I concur. Coming to the rational point. Man and woman are genetically designed to breed. And adolescence is the first signal for attraction. It starts at a young age. We were probably in schools then. Theortically, you should copulate and have progeny as a result of that when you are young so that the mother has the ability to bear the child (~ age 20-30). Coming to Indian cultural imposition in the breeding process. Deep rooted in the practice of monogamy and society imposed virginity issue, previous generations by large have abstained in sexual practices till marriage - that also happened at younger ages. Now both the sexes are meeting more tn ever and the age of wedding has also gone up. I do not see this as a west aping act. Just an innate desire anthey. Morality should come from within and our judgement is influenced by society we live in. Anduke ee generation teens are little ahead.
