why will sebi act brother unless they falsify information. if we are buying stocks just because someone is buying there is a high chance that we will be doomed. identify good businesses. see if they can grow 30% for next 3-5 years. see if management are not crooks( very important in india ). after this even if you buy at a high price, you will loose 30% in a year or so and with in the next two years your stock price will raise with earnings and you will do good. | ||

to be fair both feelgud and rao started in a bear market. that is the reason for their returns. I was invested in 2007 crash. i chickened out and ran away. i did not have any knowledge on investing then. Neither was my allocation to stocks very big. 20% can be achieved if you are sensible. lot of mutual funds have achieved this performance in the past. last 18 months returns are an anamoly. majority of stocks went up 100%. we should not be expecting this kind of return every year. infact you should be ready to loose 30% in the short term. if you cant take that pain you should stay out. | ||

that is the time when some one can think about early retirement. In my company after my return to offshore they have given me PM to lead one german business.I refused to take that..as i do not want spend 12-15 hours in office .as aPMs life is like that in my company. So I do not want to lead stressed life for 2-3 lakhs extra salary so decided to stay away such a kind of rolls and negotiated to take some thing like team member position..as it is cool job..i can finish my work leave the office in 9 hours and spend the time with family. for that i have taken pay cut as well. my equity investment is taking care of wealth creation. | ||

i am holding granules from 65 after split feelgud, it has consistent sales for last ten years over 25 % consistent profit over 32 % for last ten years recently they acquired couple of companies, who's products have higher returns compared to granules core products, which will show effect after 2 or 3 quarters results. they had added a plant recently in vizag all in all its good company expecting 40/50 CAGR for next 2 or 3 years atleast. thats what i feel. | ||

Feelgud is playing for 30% growth and rao is playing for 50%. Both are getting more than what they are playing for. In case of feelgud you don't need to flip often but in case of rao strategy you may have to flip every 1 or 2 years. You need to understand what you are playing for and stick to it | ||

This is what I wanted to know in my first post. Is this a long term story or short term?  For a long term story, qtr miss and small changes here and there can be ignored where as for short term deals you have to bail out the moment you smell any slowdown. If I read your post correctly, mgmt is projected 40% growth for next few years. If so, Avanti is a great pick at PEG .5, good ROE, low debt and decent dividend. if u go through management interviews (wether they r walking the talk or not) and its corporate goverance..then u will come to one idea about its managemnt. if u r in the market for 3 years then u would automatically come to know about management.. if u r new to the market just get into proven quality stocks likes of PAGE ind Gruh finance indusind lupin asian paint pidilite ind etc.. once if u r comfortable with market then go for mid caps which are having good earnings power. even satyam has given enough indications before it bursts.like pledging by promoters etc. when u r holding 10 stocks of 10% each allocation..even if one stocks burst .it will not hamper big ... imagine..one stock down 50% due to mal practice by management..and u r 9 stocks up by 40% on average..then still u r over returns will be 31%.. | ||

My 2cents If you see US/UK/Japan/Euro they compliment influence each other markets and in general SP 500 stocks pick up from the futures markets which is again from the overseas top markets But in case of India markets, it is kind of detached!! trade on its own and there is no correlation of Indian Indices> sectors>individual stocks if iam right. I never watched the tape for indian stocks what influences the stocks in indian market hours under different conditions like stress testing. Can some one provide the High beta/High frequency trading stocks of Indian markets?? top 5 picks in each sector financials/pharma/Tech/Retail/Infra/Energy etc I will provide my updates on these High Beta Indian stocks as well in coming future. @rao Sir also how do you find whether the management of some non-telugu owned company is ethical ? Franklin Templeton oka third rate mumbai based company lo invest chesindi. At the time their financials were perfect and it was a dream company but it was run by very bad people. Name of company is Shiv Vani Oil and Gas. Now it went to nothing after fraud was discovered. Can you believe they lied about having assets on the balance shseet they did not own ? After Ramalinga Raju, Deccan Chronicle, Sujana , etc, I am very cautious when it is time to screen promoters. @Rao sir, One more stupid question. What matters more as per your experience, and which company would you invest in assuming 1 and 2 are companies. I say invest, not trade (buy and hold for 1+ years). 1. Static top line with growing net income (Net income as a % of revenue grows every year, but top line is not growing at a similar pace) 2. Significant top line growth with a mediocre bottom line growth (company grows at least 5-6% YOY, but net income is stuck at a certain range or does not grow proportionally wrt topline) also naa experience batti topline and bottom line are both equally important. would you agree ? i see a lot of companies with tremendous topline growth but negative net income have bombed and fell from the sky. I'm still new to investing so far I made money trading on business cycle and capital flight which took place during 2013. I'm yet to make money off investing (holding longer than 1 year). But I feel most companies are priced in . Even if they're not I feel like there's are hazards to the underpriced ones basically I think with the market run up there's no free lunch. along with ethical management..yes its quality stock..but some times even quality stock will go for sleeping mode due to poor top line growth..(ex. hakins,ttk etc).. but why don't u look for earnings forecast..in next 2 years how much EPS it can do..we can get it tentetively from conf.calls. I used to invest in quality stocks which are having good earnings potential for next 2 years..if i find that next 2 years earnings will be poor..then i will not hesitate to replace that particular stock (no matter how good it is )with another quality stock which is having good earnings potential in next 2 years.. we can get this earnings forecast from following.. from management interviews.. from confrence callss which ic conducted after every Quarterly result.. rerearch reports from various broker agencies. etc.. this is my investment technic..i am following this same for last 5 years..its working for me.. | ||

By the by Portfolio is doing very fine year to date..gained 20% on my PF on my Fat portfolio. we are back to india after long stay in germany (6 years) due to personal commitments like parents getting old and kid are growing..so wanted to enjoy the life in hyderabad..so back to india. I bought BMW 3 series in hyderabad...It was my dream 15 years back when i enetered into my proffesional field.. due to my stock market investment in last 5 years my dream comes true.. By god grace life is cool and good going.. |
