"Favorite stocks: Motley Fool Insider Value editor Richard Greifner singles out Iconix Brand Group (ICON) as a favorite for 2015. The company owns and licenses popular consumer brands including Candie's, London Fog, Joe Boxer, Umbro and Rocawear. But unlike a typical retailer, Iconix has low overhead, no inventory to manage, extremely high profit margins, and plenty of free cash flow. "It's got a lot of the attributes we like," Greifner says.
Iconix is a "free cash flow machine" that's using the cash to buy new brands and its own shares, he adds. Iconix stock sells for about $34, but Greifner says it should trade at $52, based on the discounted value of his projected sales and earnings streams.
Plus, Iconix comes with a catalyst on the horizon for next year: Snoopy. A joint venture with the family of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz gives Iconix a piece of the revenue from Peanuts products, including The Peanuts Movie, a 3D film slated for the second half of 2015. "There will be a ton of related merchandise, and they will participate in the film, too," Greifner says.
Greifner also likes Lumber Liquidators Holdings (LL) , a specialty retailer of hardwood and other materials used in flooring. The company's stock got cut in half in 2014, falling as low as $50, as allegations unfolded that it was importing protected wood from Russian forests via Chinese vendors. Subsequent stepped-up documentation for vendors disrupted the company's supply chain during the second and third quarter of 2014, which hurt sales and profits.
Now this issue is behind the company and the stock is moving higher, selling recently for about $64 a share. That's well-below Greifner's estimated $89-per-share intrinsic value, based on expected growth. Where is that growth coming from? Its sheer size and direct sourcing relationships with lumber mills around the world give Lumber Liquidators a price advantage. "We believe that the company's cash flow will increase significantly over the next decade, and that the current share price doesn't reflect that," Greifner says. " |

Rebel brother,
I am holding few stocks for the last 10 years. Agree not easy sometimes. Okkosari you become complacent with your picks. In my case csco was like that, after holding it for 9 long years, sold last month for small gain.
Motivation Emi ledu, I cannot monitor markets everyday. Have to think longterm. Also I don't have time and energy to monitor many stocks, going forward just want to concentrate on few (probably around 7) and bet big anthe. I cannot retire in 10 years though I wish.. |
