In all likelihood, the work on metro rail link to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad may not start this year. Though the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has completed the detailed project report for the 30.7 km stretch between Biodiversity Park at Gachibowli and the airport, there has been no further progress till date. The DMRC has estimated â¹4,650 crore for airport line with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and the GMR Group pitching in with â¹400 crore each and the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation expected to invest. âThere could be a 10% standard cost escalation and it could take up to four years for the work to be completed if we start now with the government support as work at several places can be done simultaneously given that only a small portion of land is to be acquired,â said HMR managing director N.V.S. what I observed is that anyone going to Hitech City from DSNR, LBNagar and others similar areas, the cab pool is coming cheaper and more convenient than the metro. For them per month its costing 2500, where as Metro is 4000, apart from that they have to go to the station by other means and from station to office by again share auto or something, So they still are preferring shared cab, which is at door step. I think it needs to be expnded from JNTU to Hitechcity to Inorbit mall. Roju a route cover chesevallu thousands lo untaru. most of them who work near hitechcity live in Kukatpally, KPHM or Nizampet. Ipudu valaki JNTU to AMeerpet and thhen to Hitechcity Almost same time but doubt the daily transit expense. | ||

I traveled in March 2018 from Nagole to JNTU many times, at that time it was a change over in Ameerpet, costed 100 rs one way, and took almost 1 hour to go there. The occupancy was about 35-40%.. and had too many stops No vendors in stations is making them clean, metro as such is very neat , clean and top class. There is a difference between flop and failure. This is more failure in terms of implementation with the delays costs, and people inconvenience with the delay. Metro is very much required for an unplanned grown city like hyderabad. The growth was in all direction and the Metro is a saving grace for whether addressing traffic or pollution. There is no way the roads can be fixed to make the traffic smoother. Metro is only option, which was think right by the governments. Initially there were many hiccups, but the sooner they are fixed, the sooner it gets to breakeven. But government I guess was very slow on this front. Having said that, Metro should and will be success for longer routes, but not for shorter distances, The speed, cost if that is adjusted, then it will attract more passengers. People are also quickly aligning to the usage guidelines and no fuss whatsoever. Metro is a long pending one and good that it is serving when required.
