Newspapers were a kind of satyagraha at the time of freedom struggle. Those people running newspapers faced several troubles because of it. The media's legacy is born out of that struggle. Earlier when I used to pick up The Indian Express, it wouldn't matter to me whether a report is by Ravish or Rahul or someone else. Because all that mattered was The Indian Express. Your personal views are visible on social media. People now analyse that… the personal views being reflected in the media are not the neutrality of the media. Isliye, aaj aapki pratishtha jo daaon pe lagi hai, iske kaaran lagi hai (That is why, if your reputation is on the line, it is because of that). You will have to observe restraint to protect your pratishtha. The entire fraternity will have to do. Earlier, when editors would present their views in some seminars, it was not taken otherwise. Inko important point. IAF used AWACS that was acquired from Israel. https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natolive/topics_48904.htm AWACS lo oka plane flies next to other fighter planes with a certain distance. AWAVCS purpose is jam the radio frequencies around the figher planes and make it difficult to detect the fighters using ground Radars. So, visual sensing becomes relevant. On a clear day, it is easy to spot the planes. Neither Pak and India intha basic visual aspect meeda pani cheyyavu but it can be a factor. Then why not carry all missions in cloudy conditions anamaakandi... you dont plan your operations counting on weather to be in a certain way. They are planned way in advance. Then why hesitate and consider changing the date? May be risk to the operation because the accuracy of the delivery of weapons could be limited!!? I do not know the technology to speculate. | ||

Here is the exact translation : "I reviewed with the team at 12. The problem in front of us was that the weather suddenly turned bad. It rained very heavily that night. Experts gave the opinion that how about changing the date of the operation. I had two things in my mind 1) Secrecy. No one should know. 2) I am not personally a person who knows all these technologies. I thought with so much cloud and rain, there is a benefit that we can escape from the radar. Everyone was uncertain. Then I said, lets do it. There is clouds and it can benefit us." Few points : 1) Operation date was decided before and its important its carried out as planned. 2) Secrecy is important and once plan is revealed to the field agents, its in semi-public and chances of its leaking are high. 3) PM himself said he is not a technology person and he suggested we should go. Now 1) This is not some Bala movie shooting where he says fire the director and he gets fired or lets shoot this song and everyone says yes, Sir. 2) There are experts in all fields of highest level advising PM. If there is risk to pilots of mission, it would have been post-poned. 3) These planes fly at a very high altitude over 50K feet and radar sensing "can" not necessarily, will be effected in bad weather with cloud and rain. We do not know what kind of radars Pak has. Final decision will be made by experts and advise the PM based on the risk level. 4) Definitely there is some benefit to doing these operations on this kind of day compared to a clear day if radar ability is limited by weather. 5) The one area where weather there can be risk is if the weather effects Indian operation or risk to pilots. This again is decided by the experts from Air Force and other intelligence. Experts in these matters assess the risk level and let PM know and let him take the decision. Clearly, Modi applied common sense, advise from experts and gave highest importance to secrecy and was willing to take some risk.
