My friend who's son at age of 13 died due to skiing accident few years ago... they also have a daughter... but abbayi chanipoyadani enni years depression lo ki vellipoyaru... recently at age of 40 she gave a birth to one more child (daughter). They are little happy now. What I am saying is it is better to have two or three if you are financially and age wise better... ee America America lanti depressing weather conditions, night pafukuneppudu single kid may not grow wrll. Been thru both thought processes but in different situations... had first kid in India - felt bad about mom and mom-in- law coming in to help they his infancy and thought one is good as he was growing up among cousins...then moved to the US and the realization hit that he was not going to have anyone to turn to once we are gone .., so went for the second after a long gap - best decision ever ... I know how important siblings are - I have only one but I know I can depend on him when I need and vice versa ... it’s a huge sense of security for both of us ... sure not all siblings may have the best of relationships but all said and done blood is thicker than water ! I personally HATE imagining ONE CHILD. I think it is a punishment to the kid. Also, after parents passes away, there is NO ONE for that single child to dependent on anyone. NO MONEY can buy the joy/pain/experience/emotions etc. that a siblings give each other. At the same time I am also against having too many kids as world's population is exploding (especially this is painful for any Indian as our country's main problem is population), I encourage courageous young couple have 1 kid on your own and adopt 1 or 2 kids. | ||

To each his or her own. From what I have seen, single kid unna parents also have a lot of time on their hands. Can be real productive. Kids can excel and parents can devote their time 100%. Parents will also have time to spend on their own adventures. Traveling with one kid is much easier than 2. And the advantages of having more than one kid are already listed here. | ||

depends upon the financial status of the parents..with 2 kids they need to plan about spending the same amount on education and other things for both of them..say if you have 100k and 1 kid then you can send him to some reputed college but 2 kids you need to divide the 100k into 2 and send both the kids to a lesser reputed college.. | ||

I’m there single child of my parents...... I feel great because I don’t have financial hurdles...so I easily dived into the quest for knowledge... If there are two kids there arises scenario where children compete.... Secondly no attachments....which makes self made humans .... Only drawback is if in India there is a risk for child and his life which cannot be discounted... Myself just missed death 3 times...2 times on motorbike.....in teenage I wanna travel fast to get thrill....vizag beach road meeda 110 kmph lo bike skid almost ayipoyan anukuni once...second time also beach road....just missed a major accident...adding to it 10-15 times bike accidents.. So choice is yours.....if can control go for one else two... Capacity vundi, laziness, and uninspired life is a waste of time. YOLO kada.... But experiences is how you bring meaning to life. Worthiness should be earned with adequate efforts. | ||

i don't think this is true, i rarely see sharing emotions between siblings. relative really doesn't matter, system is changed, especially if you are living in metro area helping each other is not from relatives. these are the not a criteria to have multiple or single child if you like to have one more go for it. Single child financially looks good. But they feel lonely all their life. Especially after the parents are gone, they have none to share their emotions with. Even when parents are alive, there are certain things a brother/sister helps In the urban/modern lifestyle with nuclear families we are almost cut off from our relatives. So our next generation will be total strangers with our relatives families. Single child might prove disastrous when the parents grow old. It is easy to say that leave them in old-age hostels. Not spending the final years with parents is bad thing anybody wants |
