- Speakers is tricky... I would recommend you to go to a bestbuy and audition all the speakers and hear them personally.. sound is a very personal thing like i said.. some folks like warm, some like bright, some like neutral... also there are some speaker companies which sell only on internet... Chane, Ascend, Emotiva, SVS etc... u can audition them and return them if you dont like..

I have elac unifi book shelves... they are on the warmer side and same is the case with floor standing...

They are power hungry speakers... entry level receivers wont do justice to the speakers..

Goonda:

excuse me for my ignorance... ee atmos setup endi? what's your feed back on Bose HT speakers?

I am good with 5:1

Anna ignorance is not because u aren't capable.. ur ignorant because ur not interested this topic annattu..

Atmos ante 3D sound... there will be speakers in the ceiling to give the height effect... rain, flight, chopper etc sounds will be coming from above annattu...

if you are looking for basic 5.1 I would say

- Yamaha 1080 receiver or Denon 3500 or 3400 (last year model)... Dont get Onkyo or Pioneer receivers....

- Get HSU VTf3-MK5 or VTF-15H MK2 subwoofer from http://www.hsuresearch.com/subwoofers.html

I used to own Klipsch quintet.. they are very bright... if u listen to them for longer periods they may cause fatigue but higher end of Klipsch is very neutral ... so go to a best buy a listen to them... or call internet direct companies and ask for free audition..

This is a long term thing so patience thoti try and test is the best process...

I dnt know much abt projectors or screens... sorry!

Thank you. I did bit research and settled on 1080p. A decent 4K projector is expensive. Based on your need go for it, for me mostly weekend movie and some NFL/Cricket games with friends. Fortunately my kids are not into video games, so that was not a factor.

I just did the HT with the below setup..it’s a budget 7.1 configuration, came out very good. Friends are impressed on the quality given the budget.

Projector. Epson Home Cinema 2150
AV Receiver Onkyo TX-NR777, 7.2 channel
Subwoofer Polk Audio PSW505 12-Inch
Front speakers (L,R) Polk Audio RC85i 8", 100 watts
Center speaker Polk Audio 255C-RT,150 watt, 30-27K Hz
Mid speakers (L,R) Polk Audio RC60i 2-way 6.5", 100watt
Rear speakers (L,R) Polk Audio RC60i 2-way

Note: I went with all in wall / in ceiling speakers as we absolutely don’t want anything out

What is ur budget.. are you just looking for a basic 5.1 set up in ur living room or are you really building a full fledged home theater?

There are many parameters which come in to play - size of the room, number of speakers, listening distance, usage purpose... so this is a very long process..

I know i didnt help but just giving some important points...

PS - oka full fledged HT building antha experience naaku ledu.. like 25-30k petti custom HT built types... but speakers, receivers meeda oka idea undi...

brother, ela vunnar

Fresh in my mind as I am setting up right now.
Yamaha RX A3080 9.2 Channel - Purchase directly from Amazon Vendor
Klipsch speakers (2 standing and 1 center channel) - Purchase directly from Amazon Vendor
Klipsch Center - Purchase directly from amazon vendor

Atmos - Talk to local best buy manager for a combo deal - Sonance is my pick
Sidewall/Backwall - Hsu is good place to start with

If Klipsch is not your choice, you can ask the amazon vendor to give a combo deal of receiever+ speakers. Price is easily 10-20% less than what amazon is selling.Vendor name is "Sound Distributors".Search and send a direct email to them
