Also srisailam overflow avute Nagarjuna sagar ki vastayi for user of TG. Priority of projects is important, kaleshwaram is assured supply of water which is why that was prioritized. Low hanging fruit laga kanipinche palamur ippudu urgent ga kattina kooda fruitful avaka povachu in terms of water availbility. OTOH there is always a possibility of linking some of the hinterland canals and reservoirs using kaleshwaram water if water does not become available in krishna basin. Still have to lift, krishna river starting point is closer to Arabian sea, aina bay of Bengal side kalustundhi...Reason. Itu side pallam vundhi. So even to get water from Arabian sea you have to lift via sahayadri range...It isn't easy. | ||

Good proposal, desalinate chesina water lo automatic purifying cheste ( I think it will be part of the process) it can be directly used for drinking. Malla godavari/krishna lo kalapadam waste. Drinking water pipeline separate cheyalemo appudu. Coastal cities ki it will work out very well. OTOH manamu rivers pollute chesi direct ga sea's lo kalipestunnamu so it will come back in to our drinking water unless we have total de-salitantion + cleaning (pollutants + bacteria + crap). Good morning, I have repeatedly said from the initial days that though this project is expensive it is needed. Water is needed for sustenance and progress for life. The way upstream projects in Krishna Basin and on Main river godavari have been built there is no inexpensive way of getting water consistently hinterland. Ala ani vadileste where is water going to come from? If last 10-15 years is indication unless Karnataka or Maharashtra allow water downstream after their dams are full we would not get water in to our existing projects on Krishna & Godavari. Given these established facts something like Kaleshwaram is absolutely essential. Migilina projects anni are dependent on the above mentioned fact where as Kaleshwaram gives assured supply because of the amount of water flowing down from there. Kaleshwaram should be seen as a long term strategy for revitalizing the landscape in TG, if done and sustained properly - with the re-linking of the cheruvulu the greenery will return. Harita haram which was touted as a program to increase the forest cover and which has met with some limited success can be increased now that the cheruvulu are brimming with water, each village can have its own green cover zone like it used to have before. Once the village environment starts recovering opportunities for villages to sustain themselves will become viable too. I know it sounds like utopia however I have always said even if 25-30% of the benefits envisaged are realized TG landscape would change. Most of these projects were never envisaged during united AP govts was due to the high cost associated with lifting water. Leka pothe vodhiletollu kaadhu. However I support this project for its benefits of providing drinking water. Irrigation is bonus. | ||

I was the only one who consistently raised voice against it in the Assembly and outside. All major parties are guilty. Kaleswaram will cost nearly Rs 100,000 Cr and will cost about Rs 20,000 Cr every year for maintenance. The poor people and tax payers will bear the burden.
